  5. It’s seems the new suggestion everyone is running with is - conference champs need to be ranked top 15 to get the AQ. That sounds great on paper. But I have ZERO faith in the voters or the committee to properly rank G5 knowing this threshold exists.

Yesterday wasn’t ideal. But it’s just going to happen sometimes. Top 5 conference champs getting AQ is the best way to have some kind of objectivity to the process. Most seasons we’ll get worthy champs from each P4 conference + a worthy G5 school. This will ultimately be an outlier.

I just think the obsession with “we have to find the 12 best teams” is an impossible task because no one will ever agree with who those teams are. And by chasing this outcome, we’ll end up changing the criteria and rules every year and make it up as we go (which is kinda what’s happening anyways).

March Madness has 68 teams. It isn’t “the best 68 teams”. It’s a bunch of AQ that don’t have a chance to win the title. And everyone lives with the massive blowouts. And just like with MM, the CFP will still end up with a very deserving champ.

If those weaker conferences are apart of the FBS, they deserve an opportunity. Their games have to matter. The teams have to have something to play for. And if you miss out because a Tulane gets in…my advice would be don’t finish 5th in your conference and expect to get into a 12 team playoff.

  7. Michigan should just take a year off. They really need to step back and just start over. The program seems like a cesspool.

  10. Round 2 matchup rankings:

    1. Oregon v Texas Tech

Should be a very fun game. Moore going against that Tech DL is a nice battle. Could be a classic.

    2. Miami v Ohio State

Ohio State big favorites but I think it’ll be closer than the line. Ugly game in R1 for Miami but they have the talent to compete with anyone. It’ll ultimately depend on Beck, which is most likely bad news for Miami.

    3. Alabama v Indiana

Potential for a snooze fest but I’m rooting hard for Indiana to beat a big bad SEC team.

    4. Ole Miss v Georgia

Should be a good game but we’ve already seen it this season. So just slightly less exciting because of that. Most looking forward to the winning coach post-game speech. If Ole Miss wins, we’ll get more Lane bashing/drama. If Georgia wins, we’ll get the “no one believed in us” talk from Kirby.

Ducks looked like hot doodoo in the second half, but they came out so dominant imagine it would be hard to take that team seriously the rest of the way. Also imagine Dan is going to put them in the blender for that performance all week

bring on Tech, the road (back) to Miami continues

  16. It’s a very funny hire. But I don’t mind it. definite upgrade from Kitchens.

in the wake of Sherrone Moore’s firing, I would probably avoid hiring a dude who also was fired from a job for sleeping with university staffers

  18. Very true.

But also, Sherrone Moore’s situation is absolutely way worse.

  19. Don’t need to compare. The Petrino situation was horrible but yes he didn’t threaten to kill himself I guess but I won’t be giving him points for that

Not surprised one bit that it’s Belichick hiring the dude with the sketchy background. Dude seems addicted to drama at this point.
