I think 24 is accurate for Tennessee until we see how the QB/RB play looks.

This is a make or break season (again) for Napier, but he showed last year he can’t be counted out. Given their schedule, he should survive even if they only get 7-8 wins

LSU, Miami, Texas, TA&M, UGA, Ole Miss, and Tennessee are all on there. That’s 7 top 25 teams. If he goes 3-4, that puts them on tack for 8 wins.

I don’t see how you fire a guy with that performance given the competition and since the roster is underclassmen. If you fire Napier, Lagway and any other worthwhile player is out the door and you’re sacrificing the next 3 or more seasons too.

 

what have the seasons under billy been if not sacrifices?

like i don't disagree with your post necessarily but that is the definition of a lame duck coach lol, keeping someone you know isn't good around just so you don't lose players to the portal

 

They need to go back to the Meyer strategy and find some actual killers

 

I don’t think he’s bad.

I think he can be good. While I don’t think the time under Billy has resulted in Ws, coming in his selling point was rebuilding the entire infrastructure of the team, particularly recruiting, from the ground up. I think he’s done well in turning around the dumpster fire that Mullen left.

8 wins this season is respectable given the level of competition and I wouldn’t fire him for that. If we are six or below with some blowouts in there, then yeah, that would do it for me. I agree that keeping a coach to not lose players isn’t a good move, but don’t fire him just because the win column isn’t double digits.
