Like I get what you’re getting at but that doesn’t mean we’ve nailed it and it’s all good now and it’s strictly because of NIL, there are a lot of moving pieces that got us to this place and there’s still a lot to explore as a whole to fix things up

  2. I mean, Alabama is still in the playoff and playoff expansion isn’t responsibly for Indiana being the #1 overall seed

  3. If they were #10 and snuck in I’d agree but they aren’t

  4. I’d love to respond but this website fucking sucks lol

Top seeds being eliminated last year was due to the expansion, we still haven’t seen this years playoffs play out yet at all and it could still be more of the same 4 teams frankly but the field is open due to the expansion in the first place and the autobid system for some. Overall there are still a ton of moving pieces whether you wanna acknowledge em or not

  7. There just needs to be structure. If everyone comes together to make a CBA and they all agree that year to year contracts is fine, then so be it. But right now, they’re just making it up as they go. And it’s not good for the sport. It isn’t sustainable. No other sport in the world operates like this. From the portal to NIL to the way we decide playoff teams. College football stands alone in how they do things. And it’s because like I keep repeating, there are no rules lol

I sorta get the complaints but calling it unsustainable seems wrong.

Are we seeing the collapse of the sport? Are schools folding programs? No, there’s more money than ever and it’s finally going to the players that deserve it. Heck we even got the college football video game back lol

it’s a frustrating mess but it isn’t like, a total emergency ya know

  9. Hey, let’s just get rid of the NFL draft too. Players can go to whatever team they want. And after a year, not happy? Hell, let’s move to another team for my second season. See if I like that better.

I mean yeah you could say the nfl draft is anti labor lol

  11. What about the part after that?

  12. Just get rid of contracts. Let players go wherever the want each season.

Honestly yeah I think there's an argument against the draft for sure hahaha

Second part you're spot on about of course

Swoos are you gonna boycott watching the rest of the college season

  15. And yes, you can argue it’s anti-labor but it’s also in the CBA which means the labor agreed to it. So no argument.

  16. Lol no

but this is the sustainable part I’m referring too. Not the money. Because I do think that eventually some fans will get tired of their team having a completely different roster every season and having to learn players names every year. Having little attachment to the players leading to less attachment to the team.

I agree with Pat’s thought that if a player goes to a team you like it’s a non issue and people are fickle about it

I have no rooting interest in a specific program so I don’t care I guess

Tbf I am here agreeing with Morgan/Dave/Swoos and the player that brought this up is going to my team

Well right I’m speaking in broader terms I guess. I doubt most people care as much. We’re discussing college football on a niche forum, most people are rooting for laundry

  23. Should Fernando Mendoza have been forced to stay at cal with a lame duck coach or been penalized a year to sit out because he wanted to go to a school halfway across the country that has never won anything?

  24. No one said that should’ve been what happened though.

I’m just asking for some structure lol in what world is any business sustainable when there isn’t structure?

  25. Like any argument against players being able to discuss where they want to play just seems punitive and anti-player
