"According to the indictment, Jones sold or tried to profit from non-public information so that others could bet on it, including Earnest and Fairley. It was about who would not be playing or if they would pull themselves out of games early. Before the Feb. 9, 2023, Lakers game against the Bucks, Jones texted an unnamed co-conspirator that a player was out and they should bet the Bucks. The player was not on the injury report yet. He also gave information on the 2023-24 Lakers including Player 4, who the DOJ said was one of the Lakers’ best players that season." "The Feb. 9, 2023, game between the Bucks and Lakers that was referenced in the indictment was one that LeBron James did not play in. He was ruled out due to ankle soreness. Two days earlier, James passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. James also did not play in the Lakers’ next two games before returning in the team’s final game before the All-Star break on Feb. 15, 2023."
"On March 23, 2023, Rozier, while playing for the Hornets, let others close to him know that he planned to leave early with injury. Associates bet more than $200,000 on Rozier's unders and winnings were delivered to Rozier's home, the indictment alleges."
I think sports betting should be legal…but it clearly needs to be more regulated, way less commercialized, and way less readily available. Like, get rid of live betting and some of these stupid player props. Don’t completely oversaturate your broadcast and studio shows with betting advice and commercials. With that said, I don’t think it being legal is why people are “suddenly” dogging games and doing this type of stuff. I think this stuff has always happened. Maybe a little more now, but certainly not anything new. But I think it being legalized and having these apps tracking everything has led to this behavior being caught more often. Which is a good thing.
At least now we can confirm Rozier threw Game 7 of the 2018 eastern conference finals. That’s my head cannon now at least.
You'd think Cooper Flagg bet on the Under for points scored in the first half last night, am I right?
What’s crazy to me is that in 2025 we still have “crime families” that you can’t just arrest for some reason. Like obviously there will always be crime but if you had them already classified as a crime family what else do you need? You’re already rounding up any Mexican you see with zero proof of any wrong doing
as a new yawka its been a while since ive seen the names gambino and genovese in the news. with this and the louvre heist making headlines, boy is it nice to see some proper old fashioned crime happening again.
funny thing is people think the louvre thing is some marketing ploy for the new Now You See Me movie lmao
