jazz reportedly offered kessler 5 years/140 mil. almost the same number annually but he turned it down. interested to see how the rest of the big man market shakes out.
I am late to the LaMelo trade. I love it for Charlotte. Minnesota… Ant and Rudy with a playmaker with LaMelo’s potential could be great. But unfortunately potential and LaMelo are two words that have been paired for so long that they are now meaningless together. Who knows, maybe a change of scenery will bring it out of him. They will undoubtedly be fun to watch though.
There has been some water thrown on the Brown to Hornets chatter. I like Brown and everything, but it never made sense to me for the Hornets so I’m glad it isn’t happening.
It’s obviously risky for them, but I think it could go pretty well for Wolves. It will be an extremely fun duo and I like some of the pieces around them. My concern is their general roster construction and that they’ve emptied out their assets for a very unreliable player. For the Hornets, I think it’s clear they just didn’t see LaMelo as someone that could be a focal point as they build. For all the good things he does, there are parts of his game that are equally as frustrating. For as much as he helps other guys get shots, he also takes a ton himself and isn’t efficient at all. I think the Hornets want Miller and Kon to take another step up, and I think the team is putting them in a position to do so. On top of that, the new cap rules are crazy. Teams have to be more strategic in who they give the max deals to. LaMelo hasn’t proven to anyone he can be one of the guys you give that contract to. 6 years in the league and pretty much 2 healthy seasons.
I think Jokic is putting the pressure on the Kroenke’s to do something with the roster. I don’t actually think he would leave, he’s using whatever leverage he has for the team to make another go of it (I know Bucks fans said the same of Giannis years ago though so who knows). I would be ecstatic if they got Brown but I don’t see any avenue for them to do it. They have no picks and Gordon + Braun + Cam doesn’t do it
Been looking at players that could be options for the Hornets and their 41M TPE. What about Sengun? People seem down on him right now, the Rockets are reportedly making him available, and he’d fit in the TPE. I think he still has crazy potential. So if Rockets want a handful of picks we have those.
He’s had a very strange career. Constantly struggled with injuries, and the whole conservative grift thing. someone might bring him in on a minimum but I wouldn’t be shocked if he never played again
He really has had the weirdest arc. There were flashes where he looked like the best defender in the league, but he might be the most injury-prone player I've ever seen. Fortunately, they were presumably planning this because they changed his contract so that only part of his salary for next season is guaranteed and this will save them $6.5 million.
