Weird for both teams. No brainer for the hornets as he doesn’t fit with the other talent they have but all you get back is naz Reid and essentially one FRP pick. Those swaps only hit if you’re betting on ant being the next star to relocate and the wolves fully bottoming out again, which im dubious of. And then if you’re the wolves, im not sure that’s the guy I want next to ant lol. That isn’t getting you past the spurs.
Melo I don’t think is that good at all, that plus the injury history… I don’t really like that for Minnesota
The team keeps saying Coby is a priority and probably even more so now. Keep Coby and you have four locked in starters: Coby, Kon, Miller, Naz. Then you can use that big trade exception and/or the bridges contract to get another front court player, or just another starter regardless of position.
And I guess we’ll see how it plays out, but I think pick swaps could be more valuable with the lotto rule changes and flattened odds. All it takes is one season of Melo and/or Ant missing a bunch of games and Wolves just having a meh year and Hornets end up with some great lotto odds.
It’s a really interesting pairing, Melo and Gobert. Gobert is a high floor low ceiling guy, always anchors a great defense and leads to winning seasons but has been coming up short in the playoffs. Melo seems like low floor high ceiling, he could be a huge difference maker he could also end up a huge negative. Then there’s Ant, when he’s locked he’s kind of both, great player on both sides who has always leveled up on the playoffs. Better than anyone Melo’s ever played with. They were looking for an actual playmaker to open up the offense and they got one. Makes sense to shoot the shot, not sure someone like this becomes available again. It is a one-man offense booster with a one-man defense booster, it’s gonna be interesting to watch. But also he is very unlikable, a head case, injury prone, and could bring out the worst tendencies of the other immature guys. It’s definitely a better option than Ja, he can shoot at least, but they’re going to need to figure out how to get these guys to be a lot more serious.
gotta wait and see how wolves bolster the front court. rudy's a durable guy but banking on him to be their only quality real big man can't be the final plan.
Beringer I think has tremendous upside; if he can score well enough, he’ll be a quality backup to Rudy This was an awesome trade for the Wolves
Dream scenario Cavs promise to sign harden to a new deal, harden declines player options, Cavs then just block his phone number and move on.
