I like both of these teams, I’m happy with either winning, but i cannot fuckin believe the narrative went from “boy, this team whose three best players are under the age of 23 sure is ahead of schedule” to “HAH what a bunch of bums” in the span of one playoffs. Especially re: Wemby. The most hyped player since LeBron wilting a bit out there in his first ever playoffs is not shocking or indicative of being a bum. I know that’s mostly a fan reaction to the media narrative around the Spurs/Wemby (and the Thunder, to an extent), but the Knicks are the better team and that shouldn’t surprise anyone. Better constructed, deeper, and with much more experience. I’m still excited for the Spurs future.
They definitely deserve the hate. But either outcome I’m happy. Of course I want them to win but hell of a season from the spurs. And technically they can still do it but I don’t think they will. I called that comeback. Just need a true power forward and another shooter or two. I’d really like Mitch to add an experienced assistant as well but I feel like they are definitely going to outgrow him. It’s hard when you’re so used to greatness and winning. I remember being pissed in 2013 because our perfect finals record was lost. But then it lead to the amazing beautiful game Spurs. Like I’ve said before Spurs have been contenders 30 out of 38 years of my life and 6 of those were just the last 6 years. I’m just happy we are back and it’s not another 20 win season. Can’t imagine what it’s like to not have won in 53 years and to have been such a terrible franchise over the last 25 years or so. But Go Spurs Go… Spurs in 7!
