what's more likely? Wemby replicating his performance last night or Alex Caruso hitting 8 3's and scoring 31? it'll still be a 6 or 7 game series but I believe Wemby is just inevitable
No one knows how any of this will go but people love to be reactionary over one game. Brain worms from Get Up! talking points
no one is being reactionary in this thread - SA has had OKC's number all season - it's not a favorable matchup for OKC at all. Doesn't mean they can't win the series they are the champs I just don't think they will
Wemby had under 20 points in four of the six games last series so I would say both are fairly unlikely
it just kind of reminds me of when Giannis just took over the 2021 finals against the Suns - they had no one who could stop him and there are some parallels here
I'm assuming you're counting the game he got kicked out of but also Gorbert is 20x the defender that Holmgren is haha and even if Wemby doesn't get 20 or 30 every night he's gonna impact the defensive side of the court in a way no one else on the floor can.
Wemby being inevitable or not is irrelevant. The Thunder are the defending champs, the one seeds, and in the conference finals having lost one game so far in the playoffs. The idea that even if they lose to the spurs this year that they have to trade picks or make some moves is asinine. You have NBA 2K/trade machine brain, man.
There's like 19 variations of "how likely is it X does Y again" from last night. It's almost like it's easier to just play the games than roleplay them out based on scenarios and averages lol
We could talk about the actual game that happened last night that was very good or the one that is going to happen tonight. Fast forwarding to what moves a team that is still in the playoffs has to do in the offseason is stuff that Brian Windhorst gets paid to podcast about. You don’t have to do it too. I promise it’ll be okay.
wemby regular season pt totals vs okc this year (some games off the bench) 22 12 19 17 22 can he do what he did last night every night?
Like SGA stunk last night for most of the game, and their 2nd and 3rd best players didn't have a shot attempt until almost halftime lol This thing is far from over (even if I think the Spurs will win!)
I think the Spurs will win too but it’ll be because of the defense castle and Harper play, not because of wemby, who I would imagine the Thunder are comfortable just punting on and letting him get his. If they can attack the guards better than they did last night then we aren’t having this conversation today lol. Harper is 20 and castle is 21. I feel fairly confident SGA will figure that out.
I’m pessimistic about okc’s chances after seeing they still don’t have a good answer last night, but while Caruso won’t go off like he did, I don’t see SGA being bad (he’s been poor the first game after a long break in the previous two series) and Mitchell not contributing. I’m hoping they can figure it out and it’s only game 1. So we’ll see.
And presuming that the league belongs to the Thunder and spurs now, as if whoever comes out of this won’t be incredibly gassed, and like the Knicks have no shot is also just goofy. Spurs win in 6 or 7 and wemby gets knocked around all series like he did last night and the Knicks absolutely have a chance to steal the finals after presumably cruising by Cleveland. Literally just watch the games.
and Pat is putting words in my mouth by saying I said that OKC has to make moves this offseason - I was just putting out an idea that I wouldn't be surprised by or they might do. no where did I post or text that OKC has to make any moves this offseason - the only absolute I've posted is that OKC isn't going to beat SA. and if I'm wrong dance all over my grave then it'll be deserved lol
