It's genuinely impossible. The NFL's is nonsense and conuluted as all hell, and like 10000000% easier to follow.
I think a team is hard capped and then Bobby Marks is like “well they can absorb 8.5 million of the contract through the MDMA THC LMFAO TPE exception. Pretty standard workings here” Alright man
Harden/Beal/Kawhi/Collins/Zubac would be a pretty solid starting lineup. Obviously, health-dependent.
lol of course. I’m gonna miss him on the team, obviously a great locker room presence but he meant a lot to them on that run to the Finals two years ago. Unfortunate about what was going on with his dad last year that he wasn’t able to get on the court much, but understandable that he wanted to be there for him when he did finally pass.
One of the silliest parts of the CBA is that players are incentivized to stay with the team that drafted them bc they can get more money, but those teams take a bigger hit on their cap sheet, thereby making it harder to assemble a quality roster around that homegrown star. Also, teams can still do exactly what the CBA was created to stop, so long as their owners are cool with paying the tax (and suffering the consequences should they invoke repeater status). A hard cap number that no one is allowed to exceed would make more sense if they're truly trying to facilitate parity.
is he saying this so they can trigger some kind of medical insurance or exemption for him for salary cap reasons? it doesnt seem odd to just get out in front of it and say this but also feels weird when you know hali's attitude would be that he wants to get back out there as soon as possible.
This is probably why you eliminate all hope right away before he pushes too hard and re-aggrivates it lol
if this were the nfl thread five posters would be in a race to quote this with “exempt deez” but i won’t be posting that in here
I imagine no one would actually do it, but like, can a free agent or someone who is bought out not agree to a contract for like 1 year for 2 million bucks? The salary has to start at some number based on six trillion different things due to the CBA?
interesting. Podcasts talk about how LeBron could have opted out of his LA contract and “signed wherever he wanted” and people say the same thing about Dame next year which implies they decide how much they could sign for but that doesn’t seem to be the case so idk why that’s mentioned like that when there are minimums and players would need to get moved to make it work
