I mean look at right now - the NBA playoffs is having a great first round and most of the talk online is surrounding the new lottery rules lol
The headline here to me is that the NBA caught them in 2 of 6, where there used to be a massive gap, and it took a generational freak and the justice league of baseball to drum up interest lol
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more casuals tune into the finals, and baseball has a much larger national fanbase than the nba. i dont think it means baseball is more popular because more people tune in to watch the world series.
I find the nba media culture generally very annoying and don’t listen to any national podcasts these days. Better to listen to local coverage imo
^ Baseball's next great reckoning is going to be about the regionalization of it and it's broadcasts. And for my money, NESN can go lol.
there was an article recently about how Nike is losing shoe sales because their signature athletes aren't popular enough to move shoes (at least that's what Nike is saying I am also saying their shoe quality can be really shitty at times and more expensive than what it should be)
I get your point Drew but Adam silver has no control over and shouldn’t concern himself with how Mike Greenberg and Steven a. Smith choose to discuss the league lol
i think baseball being as regionalized as it is actively hurts it because MLB relies on local markets to advertise and market the teams. i could walk into a long island dicks sporting goods right now and buy jerseys for 10-15 major non NY nba players im not finding a francisco lindor jersey in a dicks sports in arizona.
Also I’m sure baseball and nhl commentary is terrible too but that would require anyone watching those shows to be able tot ell one way or the other
yeah probably not but it's interesting that it only happens in the NBA and not when the same losers talk about the NFL or MLB haha
actually in the 2010s the NBA routinely whooped MLB's ass in that World Series vs Finals battle but that's because it was peak Lebron and Curry
If your debate is going to keep going back to the nfl idk what to tell you. Yeah man. Football is bigger than basketball. It always has been. Don’t really get what that has to do with Adam silver but anywho !
I’m glad I’ve never grown up rooting for the local teams if any sport. All so fucking impossible to watch them due to bs blackout and regional networks
I read yesterday that Curry was supposed to get traded to the Bucks for Bogut but Bucks doctors nixed that. Is that real?
NESN got taken off YouTube TV and instead of working things out they put out their own streaming app that costs $360/year to watch the Red Sox. imagine paying $3.60 for that putrid team?
