If they ever split one of the awards as a co-winner I would quit watching the league that day and I mean that.
I feel like Flagg did some stat-padding to close the year. But even so, it’s very impressive to be able to do that at his age haha
I'm used to my teams players getting snubbed for awards so it wouldn't be the first time, but Cooper doing this while being forced to play a position he never played prior to the season for a good chunk of the season, without an actual point guard, and having to carry the team at 18/19, truly great stuff. He will be THE GUY, so I'm curious what Kon will evolve into.
for anyone real sick about keeping up with awards, there's someone that keeps track of public tallies for those with actual votes lol 2026 MVP & NBA Awards Vote Tracker (Kon currently has 6 first place votes compared to the 2 for Flagg)
Kon’s development will be interesting. I’ve heard a lot of people imply that he’s already close to his ceiling. And I’m not saying they’re wrong, but I’m assuming there’s more detailed parts of the game the casual fans don’t see (myself) that will be where he improves. I’d like to see him get a little stronger and improve defensively. And I think that’ll come with his years in the league.
Obviously this shouldn't factor into RoY voting, but I think Kon's season was a little more unexpected, for whatever that's worth. Flagg was always seen as a generational talent. Kon's playmaking and defense were better than expected while his shooting scaled up impressively. Charlotte also had a good year, though he obviously wasn't the only reason why.
The argument I hear a lot from Hornets fans is the whole thing about us being so much better than last year. But like you just said, he definitely wasn’t THE reason or the only addition. We basically added the entire “big 3” this year. Lamelo and Miller were basically out all of last season. We added all 3 guys and they all stayed healthy.
Skimmed the last half a page of this thread but are we not supposed to consider a rich and entitled athlete an asshole for habitually operating his luxury oversized and/or overpowered vehicles recklessly until he’s caught his first vehicular manslaughter charge? Is that when he’ll need to finally consider the consequences? What exactly is the line lol
