I also think a lot of teams are afraid to do a big trade because who’s beating OKC or has a brighter future than OKC - 20-1 all their young guys are signed and aren’t a huge burden on the cap and they’ll probably have the first pick in the draft! Only a team with Wemby and Giannis can compete with that my hot (or mild) take is Giannis probably won’t win another title unless he goes to OKC or SA
I get why youd have to consider Giannis but as a Spurs fan id rather not take the risk. Look how well the team is doing this year and we still have yet to see all the stars playing at the same time. It’s never worked out well for the Spurs with free agent signings or trades. Is there enough ball to go around for Wemby/Giannis? And then theres cost and injury concerns. Wemby is fragile enough as it is, what happens if they both go down?
i hope it happens over the weekend so i can just sit in the dark and be sad if it happens while im at work many knicks fans are going to make it unbearable
Part of the reason why SA traded for Fox I think is so they could trade some young guys for a big splash yeah injuries are always in the back of the mind - but a lineup with Fox Giannis Wemby and everyone else they got - even if they move Castle and Harper that’s still a team that can go toe to toe with OKC
Also if Giannis is traded to the west then the west conference has the 7 best players in the NBA and the east is true poverty. Hah
Everyone fear mongering over OKC needs to get a grip lol. Yes, they are very, very, very good, no doubt about it. They've also had a cupcake schedule so far, I mean look at who they've played, it's mostly lottery teams. They've haven't even played Denver or San Antonio yet, and they haven't played any current ECF playoff team (granted there isn't much stiff competition over there)
I'm not denying that! I very clearly said they are good. And I've consistently always said you can only play the schedule that is put in front of you, but when you add **context** it's way less scary
I think if he tells the front office “I want to go to NY” they will try their hardest to get him there. I don’t think Horst will trade him for pocket lent but we’ve historically seen stars dictate where they want to go.
I’m not scared of OKC being 21-1. I’m scared they’re gonna draft one of the big 3 in next years draft because the clippers are a poverty franchise.
Sure but then they're going to have to get rid of Jalen or Chet at some point because of the cap. Don't get me wrong, they're going to have their pick of very good players for several years, but they'll also lose some very good players. If this was the MLB with no salary cap I'd be more worried
The scariest thing about OKC is they have all those extra picks and Presti is pretty good at talent evaluation. They're uniquely positioned to weather the coming second apron storm and endure.
Anyways just hope both teams are healthy when they meet. No Gordon and no Braun has been killing Denver's defense
obviously good teams can get hit by teams on hot streaks (see the gauntlet of stacked teams the 2011 Mavs hit and overcame in the playoffs), but this OKC team is just high quality from top to bottom. I don't feel like they have a huge glaring weakness at the moment.
Nah I don’t think they’ll do that - it’s simply a trade they cannot lose - they need draft picks for 2026 and new York has none so unless it’s a multi team deal that gets the bucks those picks it’s not gonna happen
And, as said many times, OKC haven’t had their full team available! At all! They’re dealing with injuries including to their all star 2nd best player and still beating the shit out of the teams they’re supposed to lol
Any team can lose in the playoffs, 2016 warriors are the obvious example, but man, it’s not gonna be easy to beat OKC
max down bad his team isn't the belle of the ball in the western conference anymore and is lashing out
Ranking the Giannis destinations based on package: Spurs - best for both teams, seems unlikely but i want it Rockets - seems less likely post-KD trade but it could still work, probably more likely than spurs. would have to include sengun or amen. Hawks - if they include jalen, this moves above the rockets. if they don't, it has to include basically every pick they have basically unprotected. any protections or removal of picks and it falls below the next one Knicks - at least we get a good player maybe but i think both teams are made worse by this one Warriors - be serious heat don't have the assets as much as they want to be involved. kinda wish the magic would get into this but it doesn't seem like they're involved.
