Take with a HUGE grain of salt: someone on Reddit said the BBC broadcast announced Lyles has COVID. That 1. makes sense why he's struggling to breathe and looking exhausted, and 2. seems really irresponsible to let him keep racing, but I can't imagine if they DQ'd him for it either.

I saw him wearing a mask earlier this week, thought he was just being overly cautious. Wild that we just allow people to compete with COVID now

 

His WR was quickly beaten by other climbers in the competition even before the finals. I guess this is what happens when a sport is developing and being pushed to a new levels

 

He set it again in the bronze medal duo, it looks like, haha.

 

I'm pretty sure I got Covid when I went to Germany a few weeks back. I think there's a strain pretty much flying through the continent right now, but it's just being treated like a normal cold at this point. Everyone at my hotels and hostels were talking about being sick a few days after their flights.
