This men's surfing final feels unfair. Kauli Vaast is from Tahiti and grew up surfing this wave they're competing on. Of course he is going to win lol

 

The format of how they score is different, but otherwise it’s the same. Here’s one of this years comps:

 

NGL surfing is kind of boring to watch. You're just watching two dudes wade in the water waiting for wave for 10 minutes between each wave.

They got quite unlucky with the swell for this event; after those first few days, they only got shit wave quality since, and had to wrap up the event by today I think, so the finalists were forced to wait longer for crappier waves

 

Park skateboarding is dope

Are there any skaters from Street also doing Park? Or are the athlete pools completely separate?

 

In general some do both, I think a couple also do at these Olympics

 

Yeah this is so fun. Street is cool when the absolute too skaters do it, but park just fully rocks.

 

As if there’s an 11 year old skateboarder at the olympics. I am ancient.

 

How is this legal? Like, legitimately. I know gymnasts have to turn 16 the calendar year of their Olympics and they're generally the youngest we see across the disciplines because of the general nature of the sport. I think swimming has that same rule (and can only recall Phelps and Ledecky making a team at that age).

I think it’s bizarre there isn’t a minimum age limit of 16 across all Olympic events.
