I said it was good. It's just not WOW good. 47.6 is slightly above average. Also Rome is at 75. For perspective, only one player has more than 25 contested targets and higher than 65% catch cate. And that's Drake London. And he had 65.4. Rome is on another place of existence entirely in this area because not only does he had 75% catch%, he has over 25 contested targets and isn't over 20% contested target rate. He becomes 1 of 1 if you factor in drops too.

 

Giants select Michael Hall Jr, DT, Ohio State

the Giants are the perfect team to take an explosive pass rush specialist who has size questions on the IDL.

They are 4-3 defense first of all, so their 3 tech DT has an upfield assignment most of the time, and is not asked to take on double teams or two-gap against the run. Second, they have two BEEFY nose tackles (Dexter Lawrence & Jordan Phillips) to help open up an interior rush threat, and while Lawrence is that rare NT who can produce pass rush at times, they lack a DT who can pass rush consistently.

Hall Jr might get swallowed on a normal line… but he should have constant one on one’s when he’s has not one, but TWO nose tackles big enough to play 3-4 0-technique rotating and staying fresh next to him.

If anything’s gonna turn this defense around quickly despite it having some holes, it’s a great pass rush. They got Brian Burns and relegated Kayvon to pass rusher 2. That’s a big improvement - but the best way to open that up, is to also add an interior threat, so that QBs can’t simply step up and OL’s can’t simply slide protection.

Legette’s rate may not be WOW but when you turn on the tape. It’s certainly some wow. Several examples of the CB jumping at exactly the right time but Legette just being more physical and having more hang time and making the catch.

 

Jaguars would LOVE to trade up here. Offer starting at 96 (3) + 105 (4) + 153 (5) and will precipitously decrease the later it gets - I’ll start by removing the 5th and then I’ll be lowering the 4th (we also have picks 114 and 116)
