Davis was just such a non-answer to our huge WR problem to me

 

Nah, Kirk would still be the go to guy for now. We’d have enough receivers out there to where Legette can ride the bench for awhile until he’s up to speed. I feel confident Adonai is ready to be WR2 right away.

 

Agnew has fewer career yards than Davis had last year.

 

I still think Davis production came largely because of Joshua Allen. I’m really not sure he’s more than just a guy who can catch corners sleeping on go routes compared to the talent we could have at WR1 2 and 3.

 

Trevor’s also gonna be expensive. I think it’s smart to kill two birds with one stone here. You not only set him up with both higher-ceiling talent and protect your investment in his development, but it also gives us the option to move on from Kirk AND/OR Davis if either one of them isn’t cutting it two years from now… if we draft two guys who could easily end up better than them.

 

last year, excluding Puka, only 9 rookie pass catchers got over 600 yards.

2 of them were TEs.

1 of them was Tank Dell who only played in 11 games

but yeah let's count on 2 rookies to combine for 1600 yards lol

it's good to be optimistic but I think your expectations are too high randall lol

 

1) Ten rookie receivers is a LOT. I drafted two top 10 receivers in this draft so that would seem to support my point haha

2) Last year, while a good WR class, is not as good as this one, and also situationally MOST of those guys got drafted to teams that already had much better receivers than Jacksonville and weren’t desperate for another team leader. The only exceptions I can think of are Zay Flowers and Rashee Rice.

 

Detroit, Minnesota, Seattle, Los Angeles etc had good weapons already and were adding to a strength when they took a receiving threat. The Lions were good enough offensively that they didn’t even need Jameson Williams that bad lol. That’s different from, I’m drafting Adonai and Xavier to give them both a lot of snaps right away haha. Adonai’s role in the offense is currently vacant. Xavier would have every opportunity to show me he’s better than Gabe Davis cause the last thing I wanna be doing is paying a subpar WR3 $13M a season longer than I have to.

 

Zay had his best season under Trevor, not Josh Allen. If he's that limited and that bad then it's wildly impressive that he consistently scores 7 TDs a year. And we should probably think of Trevor as a guy who can elevate people too.

 

High ceiling low floor guys overwhelmingly lean towards the latter.

Legette would be the 5th or 6th option on this team though. And AD would still be third at best too.

Minnesota and LA had a horrendous receiving room.

I fully disagree and feel like you’re just arguing this cause you don’t like Legette. Everyone except Kirk and Engram fucking blows. It’s not hard to upgrade on two receivers the Bills didn’t want.

No it’s not, in an offense with a QB that be scoring 40 TDs a year. That’s just volume.

And the latter sentence is totally moot unless you’re arguing he’s better than Allen but if that’s what you’re arguing then whose expectations are really too high here
