Eagles select Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M

The Eagles desperately need to improve their LB corps. They’ve already used a top 30 visit on Cooper so there is some amount of interest in him. He can develop behind Nakobe Dean and Devin White, and perhaps even supplant one of them by the end of his rookie year

Tbh, I’m not happy with how the board is falling for Pittsburgh.

I had kinda clocked around the Payton Wilson pick that you still hadn’t gotten a LB and that Cooper is really all that was left for you of impact players. Glad he got to you.

Rakestraw was my backup for Sweat. Both would solve a massive problem for us.

  7. Rakestraw is more likely to create a massive problem than solve one

I almost didn’t take him. I was looking at a couple other positions, then I was like “Wait, only one LB is off the board?”

Would be sweet if the Eagles could come away with a LB in the first two rounds, but I won’t be surprised if they neglect it once again. Then again, they do seem quite interested in Cooper so here’s hoping

Disagree. He fits very well with how Nielsen described his defense. Very good timing with coming downhill and closing, very aggressive / physical tackler, more interested in frustrating the opponent he’s matched up with than chasing stats

  11. I think first and foremost corners should prevent the receiver from catching the ball and almost nobody in this class allows more receptions. Average athlete, not very disruptive, and has plated better in zone than man. Maybe he's a better slot player than outside idk

  12. Sorry for the delay. Will pick shortly.

Eagles select Jermaine Burton, WR, Alabama

Eagles round out the rest of their WR corps with Burton, who can serve as their primary slot receiver, but move outside from time to time when AJ Brown or DeVonta Smith move into the slot. Burton will also give them someone to develop over time and potentially replace Brown or Smith later down the line

How are you measuring that? Last season in 9 games he was only targeted 28 times and gave up 18 receptions. For reference, Sauce Gardner’s final year he was targeted 24 times and gave up 13 receptions through 9 games. 3 targets and 2 receptions per game (with the receiver gaining an average of 10 yards each reception) is not a lot. His coverage is certainly dissuading teams from throwing it his way

I would not say 12 passes defensed, 4.5 tackles for loss, and 4 turnovers forced (1 INT 3 fumbles) in 2022 is “not very disruptive”. I also found when watching his tape that he played better against better receivers. He was awesome vs LSU and awesome matching up man-to-man with Ladd McConkey vs UGA. I like to see that competitiveness, that ability to will himself to rise to the challenge.

Forgot they were a team. Will pick after I finish making Milo breakfast.

  18. I'm not at the house but the numbers are not favorable. Pearsall had him shook. I'll reply to this tonight when I'm home.

I looked up his performance against Florida. Rakestraw slipped / tripped on the second play of the game and allowed one 61 yard reception (wasn’t a touchdown and they didn’t lose the game). Aside from that, Pearsall had one other catch for 11 yards.

Are we talking about a different Florida matchup because that sounds like Pearsall only did anything because Rakestraw tripped on one play very early in the game.

@CarpetElf and the previous year vs Missouri, Pearsall had one catch for 9 yards (it was a touchdown though)

The Browns select Jeremiah Trotter Jr., LB, Clemson

Their roster is all around pretty solid minus a rapist here and there, but one area where they’ve been lacking and continue to lose people is LB. So here we are.

  23. Missed on a Pearsall run as well. He also had a lot of help opposite him with Kris Abrams.

    Ennis Rakestraw Jr.

Decent breakdown, as always, ignore the grades.

I’m also gonna be fair and admit that Rakestraw is overrated. Yes a 5’11” average athlete is not a first round corner like Daniel Jeremiah and others are adamantly claiming lol. He could be surprisingly good for a second rounder though.
