This is a top trade-down target in the 1st for me. His name by all means should be mentioned in the same tier as the top guys. Excellent in coverage, physical and disruptive, as battle tested as you could expect, 38% completion allowed and 48.7 QBR. Worse corners are already off the board too.

 

Cincinnati Bengals select Troy Franklin, WR, Oregon



No, Tee Higgins is not going anywhere. Tyler Boyd is though. The Bengals run 3+ WRs at a very high rate and will need someone that doesn't look like me filling that WR3 spot. I was content on waiting until the mid-rounds to address that but I will take Troy Franklin here all day every day. Zac lets Lou build his defense in the mid-rounds and free agency. The top priority of every draft should be "what does Joe need?".

Eagles select Christian Haynes, Guard, Connecticut

With Jason Kelce retiring, Cam Jurgens is now there starting center for the Eagles after playing last season at right guard. With Sua Opeta an impending free agent, that means Tyler Steen has the starting RG job in pencil. However, the Eagles’ depth on the interior of the offensive line has taken a huge hit. Haynes can help bolster that depth, in addition to compete with Steen for the starting RG job.

While Steen was a high third round pick last year, he spent much of his rookie year as a healthy scratch, serving as the backup RG in only the handful of the games that Jurgens missed due to injury and starting only one game over Opeta. Steen has proven nothing to just be handed the starting RG job so Haynes gives the Eagles another cheap option on the line with extensions looming for Landon Dickerson and Jordan Mailata.

Ernest Jones had a breakout season last year but he's still all they got at linebacker. Colson gives them a green dot QB of the defense kind of player that will let Ernest play to his strengths.

Eagles select Ricky Pearsall, WR, Florida

The Eagles have one of the best WR duos in the league in AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith. Their current WR3? Britain Covey, who has barely registered any offensive snaps in two years with the team as their primary punt returner. Pearsall gives them some juice out of the slot and someone to develop in case extension talks break down with Smith or the team moves on from Brown down the line.
