    Lets Go. Prestigious

not to pile on here, but how many actual building block pieces does that roster even have right now?

    Being very generous:

    Pop Douglas
    Cole Strange
    Sidy Sow
    Keion White
    Christian Barmore
    Matthew Judon
    Ja'Whaun Bentley
    Jabril Peppers
    Christian Gonzalez
Exactly 2 games of Marcus Jones

    Being not so generous:

    Keion White???
    Christian Barmore
    Christian Gonzalez

The roster is far away. They need to hit on a few drafts. But they can NOT go into next season with Mac Jobes or Bailey Zappe as their QB, so short of signing Cousins or Baker I am opposed to trading down unless the offer is otherworldly which I am skeptical of.

Trading down for a QB in this draft isn't a bad thing and in my "everyone goes crazy" ideal situation the Pats do that and take Nix.

So my allowable scenarios are one of two.

Sign a vet who can play in 2024 & trade down & draft one of Nix/McCarthy/Penix
Don't sign a vet, stay at 3 and pick Maye or Daniels

Anything else is something I will currently not be endorsing or excited about. Anything along the lines of them trying to sell us on Mac Jones or Bailey Zappe is unacceptable.

Yeah Mac vs. Bailey is somehow much worse than the Pickett vs. Mason debacle.

Please remember everyone that they said the same about the Texans

    hope this helps

yeah but you have to remember that also wasn't true. the narrative has to be rooted in truth. the Texans weren't as bad as people made them out to be and even I, someone who reluctantly sang their praise, was way off on them.

    The rivalry is back on

    they were that bad though

they just also happened to replace somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 of their starters from 2022, nailed the QB pick, and worked their way into also getting a core EDGE piece and a stud WR in that same class

They already had Nico, Tunsil, Tytus, Greenard, Harris, Stingley, and Pitre though. That's a LOT more than what New England is working with. Plus Houston had 10 picks including two 1sts and two 2nds.

this is the depth chart going into last offseason: Houston Texans Depth Chart Archive | Ourlads.com

you’ve got Tunsil, Stingley, Collins (which looks much better now as a WR1 than it did at the time), Greenard, Pitre, Pierce (which looked much better then than now) and a couple pieces on the OL as carryovers, and that seems similar as a starting point to NE if they re-sign Onwenu and/or Dugger — better on D to start but lacking a Nico

IMO, it’s underplaying how good HOU’s offseason was to just dismiss the narrative as wrong

to be fair the narrative persisted after they had that incredible offseason too

The Pats should draft whichever QB they believe in the most thats available to them

things can turn around quickly regardless of perception

    thats my opinion

I only suggest trading down because I think the difference between JJ and Nix on a good roster vs. Drake/Jayde on a bad one is pretty small

they just tried the former — seems rude to go from Mac Jones to someone whose sales pitch is “him on a good roster isn’t THAT big of a downgrade from the top QBs in the class” now that they have the draft capital to get the latter

With the Pats, not that I endorse this by any means, but if they truly decide to go OT … don’t do it at 3. I get Alt is a phenomenal prospect but aren’t there like 7 OT’s with 1st round grades? So if they truly, truly are sold on going that direction please then trade back and get more pieces to rebuild this roster.

What I endorse is best QB available at 3 and I hope the Maye slander I’ve been seeing keeps continuing so he’ll be there lol

I more or less agree. They need a QB above all else, and IF they have a high grade on whoever is left of the first three at three, that's my preferred option. They should not get cute. That said, I can see a scenario where trading back 4-6 spots still nets them a top tier WR or OT, another first, and more than one 2nd/3rd...that's tempting if they grade Nabers or Alt (or McCarthy or Nix) as high as the guy at 3. Hell, I think it could be worth moving back 1 spot and daring Arizona not to take MHJr.

I'm pretty set on it needing to be a QB if they like one of the options, as bad as they were this year you really can't count on picking in the top tier again and next year's draft looks like a huge question mark, but if they're looking at 3 as a huge question mark that they can get 3-5 great picks for and still pick top 10 this year, they're in no position to rule that out. The Waddle/Lance series of trades is a reasonable comp.

They really need to resign Onwenu and/or Brown. If they have a good tackle in place and can go QB/OT in round 1 and 2, I think they can be surprisingly decent as soon as this year. The roster is bad and they're not going to nail QB, two tackles, and two WRs in a single draft, but there is enough talent on defense for this season that they should look at the 2021 team's level of competitive as attainable if they can get day 1 starters at 2 of those 5 spots on offense.

I hate TDN so much now, especially since most of their main peeps left

its just a total lack of understanding of where the team is right now. They are in win-now mode. They can't wait for a rookie QB.
