The Bears did get the Ravens typical draft experience. A great player falling on their lap.

Like I “understand” to an extent wanting to take a rookie QB to develop 1-3 years on the bench behind a 36 year old QB coming off a torn ACL.

On paper it makes sense when eliminating the situation.

But the actual situation matters and it’s stupid. Don’t splurge and pay cousins all that $$$ and still use a top 10 pick when in win now mode on a backup QB. And also, don’t take the oldest QB in the draft. If they took McCarthy it would have made like 10% more sense

The league seems to think every qb will play until they’re 40, so they don’t seem to care about age when it comes to that position.

  6. He was also taken above two better QBs

Which makes the pick even worse. Cousins will almost be 40 when his contract expires and they could’ve waited til then

Yeah. And of all QBs, Cousins has shown enough that he’ll probably last until he’s 40.

    The rivalry is back on

I’ve talked myself into hedging your bets not being the worst strategy

your peak is a WC loss with a mediocre QB but probably just stacking bottom 10 finishes like they have been doing — maybe old man Cousins lasts til 40 and plays at a high level and Penix sits on the bench or maybe Penix forces the issue and is good and they move off Cousins and eat a bad contract, but both of those options are a lot better than the alternative of wasting the rookie scale years of Bijan, London, etc, because you can’t get them the ball

If their plan was to always pick Penix, then Kirk was the wrong QB to sign. Get a cheap vet like Minshew and have him compete with the rookie like in Indy.

It is not what I would have done, but I don’t really like the idea of relying on QB4 in a draft class to be immediately good otherwise I probably get fired and I don’t like the idea of relying on a 35 year old QB coming off an Achilles tear to be good with no good backup plan otherwise I probably get fired.

Adding the *or* to it seems justifiable enough given that no one will really care about the other move if Cousins takes them on a playoff run this year or Penix is good enough to justify the pick

This is what I would've done

I have faith in Penix in the right situation but yeah it just feels like buyers remorse in Atlanta as far as Kirk goes

Love it when we agree on things. Like our hatred for the Longhorns❤️

I hate it when our Longhorns lose too, I'm glad we're in the same boat and ready to enjoy their wins

I lowkey (maybe highkey) don't like being in the SEC though, I want to be in a conference where teams all play each other and I don't like being sectioned off into a division

I hear ya. I think they’ll be just fine. It’s Oklahoma who should be worried

I think Texas will do well, I just like watching more when I play everyone in the conference

I use to hate when ISU sucked but now I enjoy it.

I’ll miss it when the new teams join the Big 12

If it makes you feel better, the SEC dropped its divisions!

This team has sooo many DEs. WAJ/Hunter/Hughes/Barnett/Horton is a pretty stacked room
