I still really like the Panthers offseason.

Feels like they’ve spent considerable assets (money or picks) on getting Bryce help

  3. The offense is definitely better on paper. Upgrades at all of our weak spots. Which is basically everywhere lol

Diontae Johnson, Xavier Legette, Jonathon Brooks, Damien Lewis, Robert Hunt, Yosh Nijman, Ja’Tavion Sanders. That’s a lot of investment across the entire offense. Brady Christensen and Austin Corbett getting to full health will give us decent depth at OL.

It’s all still a work in progress. Young coach. Fairly young team. But it’s a much better situation for Bryce than his rookie season. Hopefully he takes a few steps forward this year.

    Eagles Draft Review

    Favorite Pick: Quinyon Mitchell
    Least Favorite Pick: Will Shipley
    Most Underrated Pick: Jalyx Hunt

I absolutely love the Eagles’ first two sections of Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. I expect Mitchell to start right away at outside corner opposite Darius Slay. I’m curious where they’ll play DeJean though. In his media availability after being drafted, he said the Eagles spoke with him about playing outside corner, slot corner, and safety. Slot corner is where I’d like to see him play the majority of his snaps at the moment.

The rest of their draft class is a bit up and down, and I feel like they lost the thread a bit with all the trades down they did. I wish they had addressed offensive line sooner than they did, but I’m glad they took Trevor Keegan and Dylan McMahon later in the draft because they desperately needed to replenish their depth along the line.

I’m glad they took a couple swings at WR in Ainais Smith and Johnny Wilson, though I think I would have rather them drafted one guy a bit earlier than two guys later. Between the two, I’m more intrigued by Wilson, as I think he offers them more upside than Smith will.

While the Eagles needed to address RB3 in the draft, I don’t think they needed to take Shipley in the fourth. I’ve heard and read largely mediocre things about his game. I watched some film of him and he doesn’t move the needle for me.

I don’t expect Hunt to play at all this season, barring an injury to an edge rusher ahead of him on the depth chart, but he could find himself in a rotational role as early as next offseason considering he is now one of just three edge rushers worth mentioning who are under contract beyond this year.

As for Trotter, the Eagles desperately needed to address their linebacker depth. I’m not sold on the idea that he properly addresses that depth, but his presence sure as hell is better than nothing and he has a real shot at playing time this year. The vibes are also immaculate with this pick.

Is it weird that I think Drake Maye is the patriots most underrated pick?

I feel like so many people are disappointed because they only got a stud QB and not like 16 future first round picks and Justin Jefferson lol. It’s weird.

I’m just beginning to settle in with the idea that I don’t agree with how Baalke and Doug draft. Which is fine I guess, I love how the Eagles draft but they’re still not getting much out of their recent young players that I thought were studs. I hate how the Seahawks usually draft but they’re always playoff competitive. Sometimes the two line up - most Chiefs/Ravens/Lions/Steelers drafts are like, “yep they picked obviously good players and those players became exactly what you’d think they would become”. With exceptions, but overall It doesn’t matter as much as I theoretically wish it mattered.

I liked who Baalke selected in the first three rounds of 2021 - Lawrence was obvious, but Etienne, Little, Campbell, Cisco from picks 25-65 is a HAUL and I still think this could’ve been 5 starters, not just 4, if we gave Little a chance. That was 5 players who looked NFL ready and did NFL style things.

However, everything we’ve done since looks like angling for very raw/young guys with traits. Sometimes at the expense of good value, where we take a guy mid round two over visibly more proven talent cause we’re afraid he might get taken before us a whole round later or something.

If our coaching staff is as good as Baalke thinks it is and we really can develop these guys from scratch the way we have with Travon Walker then I’m all for it. That would be a fun way to run a team, just draft absurd length size and speed but mold them into whatever you want. But that also sounds a lot like the Raiders “just win baby” that was unsuccessful for the last 25 years of Al Davis’s life lol. Currently I have more than a little bit of doubt that that will have a high success rate.

If the Seahawks drafted me, I’d put money down on me being good for at least one season.

And there’s exceptions to everything. The Seahawks actualky seem to draft way better post Pete Carroll with Schneider making the calls. They’ve done a 180 and now actually they are one of those teams that makes the draft fun for me by doing stuff that we’d wanna do in mocks lol

If it helps everyone I’ve talked to around here in the last few days is happy with Maye! I was never excited about Mac Jones and def feel a way different vibe this time.

I hope it works cause I like him as a prospect and his ceiling. He isn’t year 1 ready and I just hope to whatever gods that they have the right coaches to develop him.

It’s been one draft post-Carroll and let’s not act like people weren’t singing their praises about their draft last year with him or their drafts about a decade ago when they were one of the best teams in the league

  16. Shipley was a good pick imo

Saquon is awesome. But we all know his injury history. And he has some miles on him. He’ll probably be awesome for Philly this year but it’s more than reasonable to make sure you have some good depth behind him.

Also, Shipley > Gainwell by end of season.

I would be stunned if he overtook Gainwell for the RB2 role by the end of the season. Sirianni loves him for some reason

  19. I’ve read a few people who thought he looked better as a RB than S. But I’m guessing he’ll just be a STer.

    Texans:

Kamari Lassiter - Dawg. Hard hitter for a CB. Fits the Demeco mindset and Caserio mantra of football speed over 40 time. "We're drafting football players; we're not drafting track teams." as he said.

Blake Fisher - The most polarizing pick amongst the Texans base. Personally I'm high on Fisher and after losing Fant in FA they needed a replacement. There's a consensus he would have been a 1st rounder if he went back to college for another season. It may seem a luxury now but given Howard and even Tunsil's injury histories Fisher will get meaningful snaps this season at some point. He is the future at OT.

Calen Bullock - Texans needed a ballhawk safety with upside. Tackling will have to improve, he will need to put on weight. Houston is a good spot for him. Very excited to see how he does this season and how much play time.

Cade Stover - Extreme vibes pick with nice upside. Already has a connection with Stroud. Very high praise from Caserio - "Elite. This guy is everything you want in a football player and more. He played hurt (MCL) and braced it up and just kept playing football. One of our favorite football players because of his mentality and mindset. Two years ago, he was playing defensive end in the Rose Bowl. Blue-collar as they come. This is an elite guy."

Jamall Hill, Jawhar Jordan, Solomon Byrd, Marcus Harris, LaDarius Henderson - Not much to add. The names that stick out to me are Solomon Byrd and Marcus Harris. Byrd could certainly turn into a rotational pass rusher in time but certainly not immediately for this squad. Marcus Harris is the guy to me of this bunch that could see the most playing time this season. Productive at Auburn, not flashy physically but he's one of those high motor dudes that gets over-looked and eventually carves out a role.

My bad I thought it’s been two drafts post Carroll, last years draft rules too.

however, second part of your post def isn’t true haha, Seahawks were a head scratching team that drafted really poorly value wise and wasted a lot of early picks but still remained a good team

Seahawks had stretches where they were looked at as good at drafting, and also stretches where no one had a clue what they were thinking, and sometimes a mixture of the 2
