13 drops on 127 targets. That’s over 10% of the time he’s thrown to leads in a drop. I’d say yes.

South Carolina pass attempts per game - 34.3
LSU pass attempts per game - 31.6

6.8% drop last year. MVS had 14.5%. 6.8 is not a problem at all.

This man is unserious. He doesn't even have a blue check for him to be trying to engagement bait!

  13. You can think Rattler was good at SC, he was fine, but he wasn’t close to what Daniels was last year. And there’s no doubt the LSU offense is much better and more talented overall. I don’t see how Legette wouldn’t produce more in that offense surrounded by those players.

Production definitely matters. But just like with QBs, production at every position should be given context.

Anyway, yes it is a concern to me that Legette didn’t produce until his final year, and why didn’t a player who’s that athletic get an opportunity until he was 23? I get that.

But imo if you’re taking BTJ you’re already taking the risk of the athletic exciting guy over a more sure thing cause he shows you maybe 20% of what an NFL receiver is expected to do route running wise. That 20%, he’s really elite at! But unless you think he’s Randy Moss or Tyreek Hill, that kinda talent can be erased in the modern NFL and to me it encourages the team to take more low percentage shots instead of actually throwing where the defense has a hard time guarding more often.

So if I’m taking a guy like that for that skill, in the FIRST ROUND, I’d like it to be a guy I feel that can develop into something else later on. I do feel that more strongly about X even if his vertical ability isn’t quite as dominant as Brian’s, even if he’s not 20 and doesn’t have a second year of good production, because he showed me awesome YAC and he showed me he can actually juke the corner and fight through a linebacker to get open over the middle as well.

It's almost impossible for Legette to have produced less though.

Here's a list of receivers drafted or notable undrafted receivers with under 1800 career yards and 15 TDs with more than 30 games played:

    DeMarcus Ayers
    Xavier Legette

If they were both late second round or later prospects then by all means just take a guy who’s never intended to be a primary weapon and is more of a role player who forces defenses to spread out. But if we’re talking late first / early second and taking a risk that athlete guy can develop a more complete skillset like Metcalf, what intrigues me is a guy who not only has that, but also hints at having a lot of versatility

    YAC/REC - 5.3 vs. 5.3

  21. I get that. It’s certainly the thing that holds him back from being a clear first round pick imo. But I don’t know. Not all guys develop the same. Maybe he’s a late bloomer. Maybe he’ll suck. But he has almost all the traits you’d want in a top receiver and produced well in his final season.

But actually watch the plays though. There’s a difference between natural YAC because you got behind somebody, and YAC that you created from underneath defenders. Brian Thomas is really bad at getting extra yards from underneath the coverage. Legette has a few terrifying plays just from his one productive season where he turned something short into a long touchdown.

the other angle of this, is if Legette is being talked about as a late first / early second rounder despite historically low career production, it means teams are seeing something truly special in just that one season

If Rattler is there in the 4th round he's probably the new Texans backup QB
