Being right about prospects is a mix of skill and luck. I lean towards it mostly being luck. Most people have fairly similar evaluations on these prospects. Just put them in a slightly different order here and there. Every once and awhile someone is “right” about a guy he/she liked that no one else hyped up.

Some are better than others for sure. But it’s a weird science lol

 

Legette is a better possession receiver than Ladd. Where Ladd gets him is route running & Ladd’s probably the better prospect overall. But the two are night and day in physical congested catch situations. Legette is excellent at those, Ladd is terrible at them

Legette isn’t gonna wow you with his short routes but he can be ran underneath the coverage and used as a serious tackle breaking YAC threat

 

It's also so (everyone say the word) situational. There's a good chance that everyone like me who loved Mahomes would've been wrong about him had the Bears picked him at 2/3

Nah I think you would've been right about him. In general I agree with your sentiment but nah Mahomes was gonna be great no matter what

It's probably true. Part of me doesn't want to believe that since the Texans not going for Mahomes and going for Watson instead hurt my football interest so much in general but yeah, it's impossible to ignore how bad Kingsbury was and how good Mahomes was regardless

 

i agreed with dave when he posted that. i might not have used the 100% correct term but it’s exactly what i meant when i posted

 

His issue is always he backs certain guys hard, those guys fall in the draft, he gets animated about it, and those guys still suck

 

When I think “I need a catch can you get me one” and “possession” I think about situations where nobody is open but you gotta throw it anyway. Xavier can straight up body people and leap for the ball better than a lot of NFL receivers can.

Some boundary receivers with his profile do mostly run go’s, posts, deep digs and drags but are so good at it their role doesn’t need to be over complicated. AJ brown is a big example - could he run a full route tree, yes, he was a better prospect than Legette for sure and only went round 2 cause a lot of analysts were CONVINCED he didn’t love football and wanted to play baseball instead lol. but he’s so dominant winning vertically and over the middle that the Eagles are comfortable letting him do that and giving Devonta Smith the more complicated stuff.

 

Shockingly no he isn't. He's ESPN's worst for sure but Tony Pauline, Chris Trapasso (pretty much all of CBS tbh), the WalterFootballDuo, and now the 33rd Team is in the mix too.

that’s fair. i think bryce needs someone who can get an opening more than a physical presence who can take a body or two.

 

Yeah I think of possession receiver as the opposite of a threat like that that wins with separation

i guess i just have a misunderstanding of the term, which is fine. i interpreted it as “will you get me a reception” and less as “will you get me a contested reception”

in any case, i think it’s pretty clear bryce needs an opening more than anything else and likely a quick, immediate opening, given the coverage stats against their pass attempts last year and also his amount of attempts under pressure

 

17+48+2025 4th for 8+109 is insane too lol
