Someone compiled a list of draft meetings for the last decade but you know, lot of change in front offices since then so I decided to count only the current front offices + the two GMs who were GMs before.

Most teams meet with between 20-30% of their draft picks.

Six GMs have met with fewer than 20%:
    • Andrew Berry, Cleveland - 19.4%
    • Les Snead, Los Angeles Rams - 18.3%
    • Trent Baalke, Jacksonville/San Francisco - 18%
    • Eric DeCosta, Baltimore - 11.6%
    • Chris Ballard, Indianapolis - 10.8%
    • George Paton, Denver - 8.3%
On the other side, four teams have met with 31% or more:
    • Joe Schoen, New York Giants - 33.3%
    • John Lynch, San Francisco - 35.6%
    • Ran Carthon, Tennessee - 50%
    • Omar Khan, Pittsburgh - 71.4%
COVID kind of skews things a little bit. There were only like 20 prospects even taking meetings in 2021 and a bunch in 2020 either played it safe or weren't allowed to by the NFL. 1st round picks are more often met with beforehand. Teams are between 40-60% in that regard.

That said, GMs who have always met with their 1st round pick:

    • Ryan Poles, Chicago (1)
    • Monti Ossenfort, Arizona (1)
    • Omar Khan, Pittsburgh (2)
    • Andrew Berry, Cleveland (3)
    • Terry Fontenot, Atlanta (3)
GMs who almost always meet with their 1st round pick:

    • Nick Caserio, Houston - 75% (3)
    • Howie Roseman, Philadelphia - 66.7% (4)
    • Duke Tobin, Cincinnati - 66.7% (6)
    • Joe Douglas, New York Jets - 62.5% (5)
    • Jason Licht, Tampa Bay - 62.5 (5)
And once again the other side:

    • Chris Ballard, Indianapolis - 25% (since 2017)
    • Brian Gutekunst, Green Bay - 25% (since 2018)
    • Mickey Loomis, New Orleans - 10% (since 2015)
    • Chris Grier, Miami - 0% (since 2016)
    • George Paton, Denver - 0% (since 2021)

Some more bullshit for you all.

    Most Meetings With Positions:

For surefire 1st round prospects sometimes who they meet with shows the range they'll go. If they know they're going at a certain spot they won't waste their time with someone much lower. Same with teams - if they know a guy won't be there, they won't bother wasting their time and money bringing him in for a visit. Caleb Williams hasn't been visiting all these QB-needy teams cause he and they know he won't be available.

notes from Schefter's paywalled draft-intel article:

    - thinks Arizona could pull off a "trade back then up" move similar to last year
    - New England may do the same if they trade back from 3
    - still seems like Washington will take Daniels
    - speculation that Penix could go as high as 8 to Atlanta (not a chance)
    - Eagles already calling around to possibly move up
    - Byron Murphy could be the first defender drafted instead of Dallas Turner
    - would be a surprise if Jonathan Brooks makes it past Dallas at 56

Would love to have the job to throw nonsense at the wall to the media in that Atlanta would take Penix at 8

Schefter also said that one head coach "not in the market for a QB" said that Daniels is better than Williams

it seems so clear that Turner to Atlanta is one of the non-question marks/kinda done deals of the early parts of the draft lol

My king, thank you for putting this together. I’ll add Cooper DeJean to your list for the Eagles.
