i mean…the orioles will get a lot of value out of rogers just for the fact that he has years of control and gives you hopefully 120-150 innings every year but the Astros and Orioles could definitely fall into the category of “overpay” with what was given up for Yusei and Rogers respectively

 

seems below average in most areas but idk how to read

 

Career 4.23 ERA. It’s meh. Probably 4th or 5th option and feels like an overpay prospect wise too.

 

i think it’s important to note that trevor rogers today is certainly more valuable to orioles than connor norby and kyle stowers today which is why you make that trade though

 

For sure. But for a team that’s trying to win now, it feels like it would make more sense to go all in on a true top line starter rather than a Rogers.

 

thanks. yeah seems to be a victim of how much it's a seller's market. don't love how much they gave up. but neither really had a spot on the team tbd given everyone else.

they needed a pitcher.

 

so many teams being in win now mode makes this market pretty unpredictable especially for clubs that have a lot of major league talent blocking desirable prospects

I don't want the O's to mortgage the future to win now. but I do appreciate not sitting pat when the pitching needed major help.

yeah, the move is about solidifying a spot for a year or two at the least and if things shakeup in the rotation before his contract is up he will be dangled at a deadline and dealt back to the marlins

Yeah. The years of team control is better than it being a rental. Hopefully he's solid. Need to look toward the future too as everyone says Burnes is gone for sure and a bunch of their other starters will be out for the beginning of next year.

 

i'd love to see something like Hard knocks has been doing the offseason Giants stuff but like, follow 4 or 5 teams during the trade deadline and show people what that shits really like. Don't know what teams would agree to show that kind of stuff but, i'd certainly watch it.

 

But Norby is a legitimate player. Stowers at 26 is past prospect status, but should be starting in an outfield somewhere. You just figure those are two pieces with a level of value traded for someone who doesn’t move the needle.
