I am choosing to remain optimistic that, for the good of the sport, at some point the Red Sox will realize they’re literally the Red Sox—as much as it tickles me to see y’all run a AAAA squad plus Devers out there (ONeill could be traded by the time I finish this sentence)

edit: hat tip to Wilyer Abreu who I forgot to mention and looks legit

They have a good core coming up soonish (Teal, Mayer, Anthony) and have talent at the MLB level in Devers, Casas, Abreu and Bello. Hopefully Grissom, Houlke and Duran continue to develop.

But you’re right they need to start spending money again. I would love for them to sign Soto to fit in with the above mentioned but there’s no chance that’s going to happen. I miss the days of ownership just spending money to spend money. Would love to know why they stopped.

I am reading about the attempted contraction of the Twins and Expos in the early 2000s and wtf they let this Jeffrey Loria dude sell the Expos to the league then like, immediately buy the Marlins? and the guy who owned the Marlins then bought the Red Sox?

bud selig you will not see the kingdom of heaven

  4. i have no recollection of them trying to contract the twins damn.

    also bring back the expos

yeah, Tipping Pitches mentioned it on their episode this week (in regards to the A's owner possibly trying to get them contracted) and I was like wtf, that seems crazy

hard to imagine any major league folding a team like that these days

  6. reading the wiki article on it now there is no doubt in my mind about the rumor selig targeted them so the brewers could absorb their fanbase. fucking ghoul.

    forever and always

might actually have to take a break from baseball when expansion hits and we inevitably have teams in Las Vegas, Salt Lake, and Nashville instead of Oakland and Montreal. sad!

I think John Henry (who sold the Marlins and bought the Red Sox) first tried to buy the Angels before he got the Sox.

Just found out about this. Fake baseball games. I've skimmed a couple episodes and think the guy's voice is too computerized in the newer episodes. Almost sounds like AI. Earlier episodes sound better.

Probably won't listen to this often, but might be of interest to someone

it's funny, what got me interested in the Mariners is the radio announcers relaxing voice. Back when I had a job that required a lot of driving the games were always on and his voice was soothing.

now here I am all these years later saying Go M's into the void

  16. This genuinely might be his worst swing ever and that’s saying a lot

I'm pretty sure he swung at that exact pitch in another game too. Whatever it looks like coming out of the pitcher's hand, Stanton loves it

someone should lower the rays’ dynamic hitting difficulty for a while

had to lower both difficulties to rookie a bit ago

I was doing really well pitching, but couldn't hit at all with dynamic on

  21. I’ve always fought with the pitching difficulty. I throw or flirt with no hitters/perfect games way too often on the super low difficulties but once it reaches like rookie I might as well be aj minter in the 9th inning

idk if this is a common strategy but I will just sit idly by when batting until I get down 2 strikes. gets the opposing pitcher's pitch count up and they're usually pulled by the 6th inning

  23. that’s certainly a strategy
