They weren't the same. Carter was plunked on the foot by a pitch in the dirt, Garcia took an inside pitch to the wrist, and Jung swung on one. It's just bad control

 

Believe it or not outside of his speed he is just not MLB quality. The bat is awful, especially against righties and his glove is average at best.

I'm not sure how to directly embed his 2023 batting percentiles but they are uniquely bad. The A's pitching staff should be evidence of their tanking!
