The image of Tetra watching A Bout De Souffle and Les quatre cents coups in shorts and flip flops is very funny
If Godard or Truffaut lived in Florida they would have gotten food from Publix, gone to the beach once a week, and worn shorts and sandals.
The biggest problems with Florida: 1. A fascist Governor, and the state is only getting further right. 2. Hurricanes went from being one every few years to multiple times each year. In my entire K-12 career as a kid we missed days for a hurricane once, but we have missed days in 7 out of the last 9 years I have been teaching, including multiple storms the last 2 years. 3. Everyone moving here is making traffic unbearable. 4. You basically have to stay indoors during the day or lather yourself in sunscreen most of the year. 5. Musicians skip Florida a lot, despite having the third-largest population of any state. Atlanta seems to be as far south as they want to go. 6. We don't get good movies in theaters very often.
Tours skipping Florida is just because of the shape. You have to go down and then back up and pass through cities you’ve already played. I’d consider it worth it given the population though
I thought about that once but if you did a Tampa-Miami-Jacksonville run it would all balance out. Or reverse it. From there it isn't far to Atlanta or elsewhere.
Was very busy at the end of the year so I failed to catch a bunch that I feel like would make the list but oh well it's 2025 now so.... 1. Evil Does Not Exist 2. Challengers 3. Anora 4. Hundreds of Beavers 5. Furiosa 6. I Saw the TV Glow 7. Dune: Part Two 8. The Bikeriders 9. We Live in Time 10. My Old Ass I don't want to do a bottom ten because right now that'd just be 8 things I liked, one I kinda liked, and The Fall Guy.
The Brutalist is playing at the independent theater starting Friday and Hard Truths is coming to some of the AMC's next weekend. Hopefully Nickel Boys is in that group and I can knock them all out over the 3-day weekend.
Finally getting Brutalist and Nickel Boys near me on the 10th. Patiently waiting for Hard Truths but no sign of it uet
All We Imagine As Light was very good and a list worthy addition. Brutalist come out here end of the month, Hard Truths in Feb, might try and catch Anora on Sunday. Is Nickel boys on streaming?
I was wondering what happened to those. Regardless of his actual picks they are usually very stunning videos.
