said this before, but it’s wild how he still manages to get invites to premieres/festivals and people who work on films agree to be interviewed by him
I don't want to defend a person I've never meet or even seen any of their content. 2 bad tweets as a teenager doesn't speak on how a person is to work with. If I could coast through life doing my dumb reviews with only a few bad tweets holding me back id be quite proud of myself.
I imagine the reason he keeps getting invited to premieres or being sent screeners is that the people in charge of granting access don't review the people who already had them. There are probably more than a few dead people who have e-mails with links to all the big screeners right now.
I think I still need to see the following before I make my movie list: The Brutalist, Nosferatu, All We Imagine As Light, A Complete Unknown, Hard Truths, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, Flow, Babygirl, Red Rooms, A Different Man, Queer In the meantime, I doubt i'll see anything worse than the following worst of the year movies for me: Deadpool & Wolverine (Shawn Levy) Unfrosted (Jerry Seinfeld) Madame Web (S.J. Clarkson) MaXXXine (T.I. West) Emilia Perez (Jacques Audiard) Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie (Liza Johnson) Joker: Folie a Deux (Todd Phillips) On a lighter note, my favorite tv shows of the year: 10.) Hacks (MAX) 9.) The Bear (FX) 8.) Abbott Elementary (ABC) 7.) Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Amazon) 6.) English Teacher (FX) 5.) The Penguin (HBO) 4.) Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO_ 3.) Shogun (FX) 2.) Smiling Friends (Adult Swim) 1.) Industry (HBO) And my favorite video games: 5.) Penny's Big Breakaway 4.) Sonic x Shadow Generations 3.) Space Marine 2 2.) Final Fantasy VII Rebirth 1.) Astro Bot
My top 5 worst would probably be: 5) Cuckoo - Love Hunter Schafer. Did not care for this. 4) Y2K - Absolutely pains me to say. 2) Incoming - At this point, Netflix comedies barely count as movies, but it’s amazing how they can’t even make a “crazy high school party” film. 2) Self-Reliance - All intrigue and no payoff. Have absolutely no idea what Jake Johnson was trying to say with this. 1) Joker: Folie A Deux - Low-hanging fruit, but it’s justified.
