Sounds to me like the full story is that they did ask before the trade and he sounded open to signing long-term with them. Then he got traded and said actually no I don’t want to be here. Whether that was to try and call out Colorado’s bluff on trading him to get more money or what idk

 

Tulsky knew he had Necas signed for just another year and a half before UFA, decided to be aggressive with that asset and flip it for Rantanen knowing in the back of his head there was a good chance it was for a Rantanen that wasn’t going to sign. Couldn’t let Necas turn into nothing, in the end Necas/Drury/two 3rds for Stankoven and two 1sts is about fair value.

god damn I miss hearing Forslund on Canes broadcasts

Scott Morrow is such a gem and has looked great in his first prolonged stint getting actual minutes in the big league. Flying under the radar due to all the hype Nikishin gets, Carolina has been slow cooking a blue chip 6’2 210 RHD puck moving defenseman with a killer shot and can skate like Kristi Yamaguchi.

When I first started seeing these, I did the typical old man "ungrateful young punks!" response.

But this definitely is a pattern for him, and with his age / maturity, I can't say I blame his frustrations.
