This story has been BS speculation from “insiders” since the second he got to Carolina. There’s always a chance Tulsky might want to re-coop something from him if Rantanen won’t sign by 3/7, but I just don’t see it going down like that.

Necas had 18 months left on a deal that was signed under the assumption he wasn’t going sign here again and that we were going to work on a move to get him out of here. Tulsky felt the best way to leverage that was to give the team a run with Rantanen and a head start on signing a guy like that long term.

For me these reports are uninformed assumptions based off of off the mark pre existing narratives surrounding the history of our ownership and front office.

 

That narrative started as soon as we traded for him. I don’t think Canes have any plans of letting him go elsewhere.
