Canes have been mid the last month just like the Devils

Canes have also been absolutely destroyed by the norovirus for the past couple of weeks for what it’s worth. Multiple guys out every night, pretty much no player at 100% any given game since Rantanen came in.

 

yeah, the Devils dealt with that at the tail-end of their west coast trip and for the week or so after. Now they are without Hischier, Markstrom, and Siegenthaler who are probably the 3 hardest players in the lineup to replace based on their roles.

Canes fans always knew Necas was going to do well with MacKinnon, we were the ones talking Avalanche fans off the cliff because we knew the similarities in their game would mesh incredibly well.

It’s the doom and gloom merchants and the reactionaries freaking out about Rantanen taking time to adapt to his new team that frustrate me. Rantanen probably won’t ever hit the numbers he hit in Colorado, that’s fine.He’s making plays and things happen every night, using his body and puck protection to cause danger. Pucks aren’t going in for anyone right now, that happens. So annoying how the discourse factory won’t allow a guy to find his feet anymore.

 

I saw one of the TSN guys say that if they can’t get him signed before the deadline they might trade him. Highly doubt it but that would also be pretty unprecedented for an elite guy to get traded twice in a season? Last one I can think of was Vanek and he was nowhere near Rantanen’s level

Watching the once legendary Brent Burns in 2025 is tough, man. Love the player and career he’s had but him being Slavin’s partner still is maybe my number one reason for why we won’t be true contenders this year.

Orlov sucks now as well, thankfully both their deals are up this summer and we can run an upgrade of Nikishin and Morrow.
