Only issue is that they already start the salary cap thing for the playoffs this year so they would have to know 100% that Barkov also wouldn't be back for playoffs either.

 

yeah, the LTIR rules have been adjusted as well so if Barkov is ruled out that is the only way they get to use his full LTIR salary, then he cannot play at all this year (regular season and playoffs)

the other thing is Florida has legit nothing to offer lol they have no 1st the next 2 years and their prospect pool is bottom 5.

if Barkov has any chance of coming back, they can only "gain" ~$3.8 in LTIR space from him, so they really can't afford Crosby without some other salary cap wizardry

if Barkov is confirmed out for the year + playoffs, then they gain Barkov's full $10m to use

 

I can't to see who they put the $10m towards.
