Kendrick Bourne and Javon Baker haven't really been out there much, so not an awful lot to glean from this.

 

the kitchen of the pizza place i delivered for in suburban chicago was like the wild west

 

Worked in food for 10+ years and never saw anyone fuck with food.

 

oh yeah the one pizza shop I worked in everyone was doing drugs, drinking, the owner smoked cigarettes in the back but no one fucked with the food.

 

Gonna be like Josh and see a movie on Friday with the wife since she’s off and Kirby is at camp

yeah absolutely, no one messed with food, but it was a lawless area

 

also delivery is the worst service industry job you can have, i can’t be convinced otherwise

although maybe/hopefully it’s gotten better with uber eats/doordash/etc

 

he hasn’t seen the first and not sure if it would be too old for him? Feel like the messaging would be above his head.

 

I can only speak from my experience years ago but fuck doordash and Uber eats

 

I worked in a pizza restaurant for like 10 years and never fucked with anyone’s food, but my god it was the absolute Wild West with the people I worked with

People doing sex in the walk in freezer, we hired a former murdered (he liked me though!), showing up drunk, the 60 year old extremely unhealthy manager getting kidney stones mid shift (multiple times), etc

Looking through nostalgic lenses I miss it and would love to do 1 more Friday night there with the crew lol

 

It hasn’t. It’s worse if anything. Those companies are literally run by AI computers they don’t have the capacity to give a fuck about nuanced situations where the work isn’t even covering the expenses or where the delivery driver is not safe

I delivered pizzas for a week when I first lived in Baltimore. I had to drive down some dark ass, no street lights, streets with some boarded up buildings to deliver pizzas, it’ll teach you real quick that some people are really forced to live in squalor in this unequal country. Single moms barely cracking the door to pay for the pizza because they’re afraid of anyone seeing them and the kids inside and feeling vulnerable. Dudes only giving me the cash they had on them even if it’s not enough but getting angry and threatening if I asked them to pay the full amount. My 5th day of work I was given a fake $100 bill which took away everything I made that day and the restaurant was just like “sorry that sucks you owe us $100 though” and I said “I’m not paying you shit” and walked out lol

 

i guess i was thinking you aren’t subject to getting shit on constantly by the same company and can at least have variety in where you’re picking up from but yeah that makes sense

 

We had someone leave our food at a different house halfway down the street two days ago and then just said they “delivered it” when we told them it wasn’t at our house.

 

at least with waiting and bartending if you’re personable enough/do a good enough job, people will tip you well. no one is ever happy about delivery regardless of how fast or nice you are

 

yeah delivery as a whole is worse with the apps. it does seem drivers care way less now but it’s hard to blame them having experienced how shitty people are to drivers

 

No clue if they do it still, fucking hope not, but DoorDash would get an order and then immediately send it to the delivery guy for pick up. So now you've got a line of angry delivery guys waiting for 20+ minutes for their food, and doordash doesn't tip either so I'm doing all that shit for free.

 

i got sick of delivery and left that place eventually and became a barback at another pizza/italian place in the suburbs and it was insane. there was a “”””club”””” in the upstairs and fights would carry on down the staircase and into the dining room of the restaurant where like teeball teams were eating lol
