Of course not. It hurts every time but at this point nothing the Jaguars do would be stooping to a new low. They’ve already done all the worst things a team can do in the last 10 years basically lol

 

Only thing left would be “long term sign a quarterback or other extremely important player who is an abuser” and if that happens I’m out

 

I don't really feel totally optimistic about the Patriots 2024 season in terms of wins or playoffs or anything like that.

I want to be wrong and I want to have entertaining games to watch again, but my mindset is this will be a developmental year for the HC, OC, new DC, journeyman QB, rookie WR's, etc. Their defense will be kinda great enough to keep them close in games but I'm still expecting a 4-5 win season

It is the 2025 season I am realistically excited for when Maye takes over and Polk/Baker *hopefully* develop nicely.

I expected the Texans last season to win 7-9 games and outperform the stupid mocks that kept putting them in the top 3.. my expectation was based on already having pieces on defense, plus Ryans scheme.. the offense is what surprised me and ultimately led them to a playoff appearance, victory and huge vibes all around.

This season is Super Bowl or bust

Things can change so quickly in the NFL, it feels good to be #blessed for once

Dunno if the Pats can follow suit, thats up to their fans to determine

 

That's where I'm at too. We can go 0-17 as long as it looks like Maye and the WRs are starting to show things you wanna see. I just was saying the guy who said 9 at least has a leg to stand on even if it's weak and hobbled.

If Trevor Lawrence is who I think he is we’ll put up another fight for the AFCS and it’s not gonna be an easy grab for the Texans. We’ll see.

I already spent a whole off-season venting my frustrations about Baalke not making sure Trevor has outstanding support. At best he is still in a mediocre offense with a mediocre line and mediocre weapons. But at the end of the day it’s also year 4 and it’s time for Trevor to show he can win whether things are going his way or not. If we have another disappointing collapse this year I’ll be mad at Baalke but it’s also time to hold Lawrence accountable for his own development too at the same time.

 

The Colts were also 1 god awful Minshew throw away from being the team in the playoffs, they can't be crowned yet but they certainly can't be written off

 

If Maye gets the team to rally around him, and Van Pelt is as advertised, the Pats could easily sneak 5-7 wins imo

You expect Mayo to have the defense under control.. they have a very similar setup to Houston, although I think we had more vet talent to help Stroud, and an emerging WR1 in Nico (which wasnt known at the time).. they'll be interesting to follow.

 

Like, yeah Baalke didn’t set up this offense aggressively and that bothers me but it’s also no more excuses. Just cause that’s part of the narrative doesn’t mean Trevor shouldn’t still be expected to rise above that by now and prove he’s the gifted QB he always seemed to be growing up. The expectations of him being “generational talent” were unfair but… if he really is what he advertised he was in high school and college he should be a top 10 QB at least for sure.

 

I think any of the AFC South teams are good enough to lose to the Ravens or Chiefs in the Divisional Round.

 

That said CJ Stroud is already in my top 5 (#5 behind Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow.) He is an elite pocket passer in a time when that’s becoming incredibly rare and QBs are starting to need / rely on athletic gifts to stand out. Stroud is not that fast and not that mobile, but his pocket presence is so good already it’s almost like he’s psychic about it & he already can super-computer exactly the timing and arc he needs to anticipate different windows. Blows my mind how often he does difficult downfield passing things that Trevor still only flashes from time to time.

 

I have seen some of the most stupid iterations of the Tennessee Titans do damage to both teams in the playoffs

 

god it’s so true. My heart wants to disagree, but Dustin, we’ve both seen it so many times in our lives lol. I cannot count out Will Levis gunslinging his way to a fuckin 5-3 divisional record with those WRs lol

The top right adlib throw Stroud made was my favorite play of his last season.. in a play-in game, just absurd.
