What WILL probably happen to you at some point in Baltimore is your car getting broken into. That definitely can suck.

You can greatly minimize your chances by never leaving anything of value in your car / making sure your car isn’t filled with shit, and some rowhomes have garages or back alley parking that isn’t as conspicuous. But eventually you’ll park somewhere that some bored unsupervised kid breaks a bunch of car windows, or you’ll forget some literal pocket change in your cup holder and someone homeless and desperate will take that for a bus ride to the shelter or something.

 

Also there are parts of north Baltimore that are still within city limits that are like beautiful suburban neighborhoods in forested areas. And those are kinda sequestered from a lot of inner city things.

But stuff like “you might get mugged! Someone might break your car window! A convenience store you’ve been to a few times might get robbed!” Is just a thing in every major city and the violent crime stats don’t necessarily represent the “violent crime for people who don’t live in the ghetto” stats.

 

I’ve never felt unsafe in any city I’ve been in
