my ideal is for all my 35 year old NFL thread buddies to like my upcoming album like this but deep down I know we don’t have NEARLY enough hooks to be addictive like that lol

like, you’ll all listen to it and think it at least sounds like impressive and professional musicianship, some of y’all will really dig it, however maybe only 3 of you will make it regular rotation, the rest of you will listen 2-3 times and then not be in the mood for it for awhile and then forget about it because there weren’t any catchy enough singable enough vocal lines to get stuck in your head

that’s being a prog band though, just hoping enough people dig my intense vocals and my catchy / bouncy indie & punk friendly RIFFS and my sick Tele guitar tones and the locked in drum fills and jazzy bass runs etc… to overlook the fact that the point of the music overall is not to be repetitively catchy

What the studio engineer says at 1:37 - 1:52 hurt me when I was watching this show lol. We are about 300x better than that cringe parody band Defiler that wrote songs for that episode of course, but if there was any harsh criticism a pro studio engineer who works with label bands would have for me, it’s exactly those sentences lol

 

Gonna level with you, for a band that isn't basically TGA, Spanish Love Songs or another long time favorite to crack my rotation, it better be ear worm central for me lol. Said with love of course. But I'm not Pat, I don't really make enough time to let an album slow burn me.
