I told myself I was gonna decline next time I got voted onto an open mic showcase because it’s not worth it and I should’ve listened to myself. I’ve been on SEVEN of them, more than any other artist who frequents that open mic for sure. SEVEN. How you gonna vote me on SEVEN times but then I’m never actually the audience’s voted favorite at the actual showcase.

I don’t see the point of playing an eighth, it’s just basically a rushed 3 song set where we have to be stressed out about setting up and breaking down as quickly as possible. And you have to promote it but it’s a free event so all it does is take ticket sales away from your other more legit shows and make people take your band slightly more for granted. But I’ll probably get voted on again because I’m a good fucking performer, and I probably won’t say no cause I’ll feel like a dick refusing to do something I got voted to do, and I’ll probably be all pissy again when we get second or third place again

 

It’s like getting voted to 7 Pro Bowls but never once being All-Pro. Really? I’m popular voted as one of the best players in the league 7 years in a row but the judges still don’t wanna give me credit?

I don’t sign up for them! I literally just go play open mics to promote and to hang out with other musicians and they keep hand selecting me out of 20 artists who sign up as the one who gets on the showcase

I keep not declining because it feels rude to be voted on and supported by the community but throw it back in their face

 

Are they physically forcing you to play after they select you at an open mic?
