Every town hall they brag about having $100,000,000+ sitting in a bank account just in case and I always find myself going "cool, where's my fucking raise, dicks."

 

also weird thing to brag because wouldnt that tank their stock. companies arent supposed to stockpile cash (from a stupid fucking shareholder perspective)

 

We have a followup meeting today where the leader of our division comes to us managers and asks our opinion on their strategy from the previous meeting and I'm trying to decide whether I want to be safe or go off

 

they stopped even doing shit like that in 2021. For Christmas 2020 we could order up to $20 worth of food for ourselves for lunch one day and that was the last we ever got anything like that. We don’t get any sort of bonus and we didn’t get raises for a few years and mine this year with 27 cents or some bullshit.

 

They haven't IPO'd yet so it doesn't really matter.

I almost went off on a touch base meeting with 90+ people when the higher up told us to be thankful our company is so great and we owe them the mandatory OT when everything is up and running and oh also it’s gonna be tough to use your PTO the rest of the year.

We were planning on it two years ago before the IPO landscape shifted negatively I guess.

 

I feel, from my admittedly uninformed viewpoint, that staying private is for the better. there's really no true (i.e., shareholders) pressure for the eternal growth/profit mindset beyond the leadership possibly being brainwormed mbas.

better that the company just exists and does well (ideally with everyone receiving a better share in its successes, but alas capitalism doesnt allow for that).

 

I think their true end goal is to have Amazon buy us. So still get to cash out without ever having to really justify anything lol

 

then amazon guts it and fires everyone. yay.

my company is closing a couple of locations and I had been thinking "hmm are things bad right now" and so I asked around and I guess they just don't make money and they're old buildings

I have the option of buying shares. I haven't yet, but the price is locked so it's really just been waiting to see if it ever makes sense.
