Not really a fan of running it back with Ward and Pitre as the starters

 

Imagine if you still had Justin Reid next to Pitre

 

Pitre is the one that shouldn't be penciled in as a starter

Ward is hurt too much, atleast this past year

I think Randall likes Reid more than I did

Yeah he’s been solid. I think I’ve heard they’ll extend him to lower his cap number and he’ll probably be around KC 2-3 more years maybe

 

Traded for a wife beater JUST for the ability to beat the market when he was already going to be available; and then still overpaid his market value

 

Safety is a hard position. For a guy to make plays he pretty much HAS to take risks that are gonna get him burned occasionally and he just has to be chess-move smart about when the opponent can’t fool you with a late route or improv or something.

 

Reid and Pitre imo are in that tier where they are good at aggressive production / risk taking but not so good that they don’t get burned for it here and there. That’s just football. QBs / WRs / OCs earn their paycheck off fooling safeties downfield. Only the truly ELITE safeties know when to back up and when to clamp down and do both without hesitation all the time.

I wanted Andre Cisco to be the latter but he’s more of the former and I’m okay with that, very hard to do better. Ravens got a fucking diamond with Kyle Hamilton at fuckin pick 14

 

Luvu was my favorite signing for the Commanders

They kinda pulled a Caserio this offseason signing a shitload of guys and seeing what sticks this season

 

It’s kind of like defending the perimeter in the NBA. You’re either elite at it, fundamentally sound, know when to be aggressive and have confident/patient timing, and never fall for fakes or take false steps (Herb Jones on the Pelicans!)… or you foul to much and superstars blow by you too much for your sometimes splash plays to make you a good defender

but if you have “splash plays” guys everywhere who communicate well and no one in your starting lineup is a revolving door, then you can still play some defense. That’s having Reid and Pitre, Cisco and Savage, etc, that’s how most teams in the NFL make do at safety by splitting the deep coverage responsibilities.

 

Watching the gentlemen tv show and I wish I was a Duke, the groundskeeper for a Duke or a gangster. I’d be great at any of em.
