Idk maybe I’m wrong and we should take that risk to give Trevor a weapon. I’m just as happy with us making an aggressive move in the draft to get 5 cheap years of a newer stud though. Being in range to possibly trade up for Rome or to easily draft Mitchell is also ideal.

But if we let Ridley walk just to not sign or draft a potential WR1 in his place then imma be pissed. I could see us trying to move up for Rome in the draft and then trading that pick 17 for Aiyuk if we can’t pull it off. That would be totally fine also.

Like tbh the goal SHOULD be to go get a bonafide #1 weapon. Best thing Trevor Lawrence can have when he signs that powerball lottery sized deal is a receiver who’s better than Ridley or Kirk but also doesn’t need to be paid a top 5 salary on the team until 2029. That would help extend our window a lot.

 

Aiyuk is a freak man. I think he can do it all. He’s such a good route runner, he can win in all areas of the field, he is dynamic after the catch

If I’m a fan of a team in need of a WR, I’m hoping that team calls the Niners about him

I wouldn't take Aiyuk over the top three. If Nabers, MHJ, or Rome is there at 9 (or earlier fuck it) then that's option #1. Depending on who is available at 17 I'd do the trade for Aiyuk

I love Aiyuk enough that trading a lot for him does not phase me. The problem is, if Baalke wasn’t willing to be realistic about how much Ridley would cost if he had a 1000 yard season, then I lose a lot of trust in the idea of trading a pick for a one year rental.

Doing that AGAIN and refusing to pay Aiyuk AGAIN after you wasted another key draft pick, ending up in the same position, would be indefensible at that point. Especially when we were so happy to give a big bag to a less versatile WR than both of them 2 years ago.
