I live about an hour from Hampton Beach which is fine and about 1.5 hours from Old Orchard Beach which is much better.

Yeah the only city you can even day trip to from the outer banks is Norfolk / Virginia Beach and that place blows, it’s like worse Jacksonville that doesn’t even have the good parts of Floria

Norfolk is still 2.5 hrs to where we usually go so not even close enough for a day trip

people act like getting to the outer banks is just like going to charleston beaches lol NO it's 3.5 hours from RALEIGH let alone most of the cities in the state

 

we are going to wilmington for my bday (july 4th) though so I'm pretty excited

 

Furthest north I’ll stay is Avon but usually in the frisco area. But I’ve stayed everywhere between Avon and hatteras landing.

 

Good seafood and Latin food, good punk scene, and dammit I don’t like my beach locations to get cold, especially if it doesn’t even snow. North Florida also has a localized southern charm whereas Norfolk is just plastic shopping mall land (so more like central Florida lol)

 

Virginia Beach is the most “bro” place I’ve ever been I hated everyone there

I’m just going to post “happy birthday Patrick” and that’s now my excuse to eat cookout food go swimming and watch fireworks

 

Raliegh itself isn’t even that great lol I’ve had people try to sell me on it but that’s just even more boring Jacksonville with hills instead of beaches

Though I guess Chapel Hill and Durham are also nearby and the Triangle as a whole has a decent amount of places to see and stuff to do… but if we’re counting that then I’m also counting St Augustine, which is a top tier small town with tons of cool history, and an elite beach destination that never gets crowded, so Jax still wins #dqm
