DC music venues are pretty fucking dope tbh.

It’s not a great place for small bands to play cause you have to give venues pretty high minimum ticket sales & it pretty much requires you to sell a minimum of 50 (and preferably 100+) tickets to have a successful show. Terrain is at that level now but a lot of my friends’ bands aren’t and they get ripped off so hard trying to play The Pocket or Slash Run on a weeekday, or trying to play Pearl Street which is a venue in a neighborhood with no street parking that does not validate bands’ parking garage costs lol

BUT for seeing pro artists… medium-large venues (1500-3000 cap) The Anthem & Silver Spring’s version of The Fillmore are elite, and midsize venues (1000-1500) 930 club and Lincoln Theatre are also elite. However, for the next size down (350-1000 cap) I’d rather go to Baltimore venues than DC venues, but DC gets more tours so. While Union Stage and Black Cat aren’t anything special they’re at least in awesome neighborhoods with outstanding food options (Waterfront and 14th street respectively)

I’m bout to smoke a shorty joint packed with kief, gonna get blitzed cause my workweek is finally over and my limbs hurt from riding my bike 3 miles + a lot of uphill to work the last few days

 

Say what you want about how legal weed states cost more cause the government be taxin they shit

but god damn is it nice to be able to simply buy an already rolled joint with kief and wax in it, that would take months to collect enough kief and 20+ minutes to roll it myself but I can simply walk downstairs and buy one from the tobacco shop next to the diner on my block

 

best example of this is Ottobar, Ottobar fucking rules. Been waiting for the right time to send them an email, I want to do a climactic album release show there with bigger bands than us and sell that shit out. Would instantly put us on the map to get covered by local zines & popular podcast and blog-run playlists

The 8x10 is pretty sick too and my band is playing there in June.
