They are both bad

 

we can and should dunk on the steelers for the Russ signing because he's incredibly corny and it's not a Bold move for them

BUT

from a team building perspective it's very good to have like $2 mil committed to your QB room. Steelers obviously think they remain relatively competitive with Russ, and if he's terrible they can throw Fields out there. There's almost no risk involved outside of this season (as of now)

and like I think Spiffa said before, they'll likely sign Fields to some small, low risk extension for a year or two after this while they sort it out

it makes sense!

 

Russ and Kenny are both not good currently but one of them has won a Super Bowl and was great at one point.

 

My nightmare is Hurts getting injured and missing the Steelers game, thus making it Pickett vs Russ/Fields
