I mean, good to have depth there with Watson and Winston not being able to keep their hands to themselves.

 

I was pretty amped for Colts offseason after the first couple days, but run it back + leave a massive hole at safety + replace Taven Bryan with Raekwon Davis (great move having a backup 1T again, I love it btw) + replace Minshew with Flacco + seemingly failed Sneed trade does not really feel like the franchise is taking the next step forward

If I’m reviewing the week that was now that I’m further removed from the signings, the only moves the Eagles have made that I like are Saquon, Hennessy, Huff, and CJGJ, but I do acknowledge and understand the risk with those three big signings.

The acquisitions of Pickett, Parker, Baun, White, and Burks just do not move the needle for me at all. In fact, I think it’s ridiculous that they gave Baun $3.5m fully guaranteed to essentially be the fifth edge rusher at best. They could have taken that money, the money they gave to White (up to $7.5m), and the money they gave to Burks (up to $2.5m) and they could have just signed one capable starting LB!

The defensive back seven was a huge problem last year (and even most of the defensive line faded down the stretch) and it’s difficult for me to sit here and say it looks improved. Cunningham and Morrow have been replaced by White and Burks. Slay is 33 and is coming off an alright season. Bradberry is going to be 31 and coming off a bad year. They have no slot corner. We didn’t see enough from Ringo to believe he can be a starter right now. Reed was solid last year, but also faded down the stretch.

I know there are still moves to be made and obviously the draft can change things, but I just have a difficult time thinking a rookie corner or linebacker is going to come in here and magically turn the whole defense around. The defense was a problem last year. It was a problem heading into free agency and it’s still a problem after the first wave of free agency without many answers available to sign anymore.

I’d still like to see the Eagles sign Justin Simmons and trade for a legit corner so that they can give themselves some more flexibility in the draft. My guess, though, is that they don’t make a trade for a corner until the summer after looking at who they’ve got in OTAs and maybe some of training camp.

Just hard too see how the Eagles defense got better so far. There’s still time and I expect them to make a few more moves this week. I’m just cooling a bit.
