Tbh I don't know a TON about the Hybrid but I know the general pros and cons from a consumer point of view.

    PROS:
    1. Better mileage -- but not other worldly better -- like 10-15 mpg more.
    2. Toyota has been making hybrids for decades now and they've got it very dialed in.

    CONS:
    1. Research who in your area repairs hybrid vehicle systems before buying. If you're buying new then this is pretty insignificant for at least a while as you'll have warranty and little to no issues anyway. If you're buying pre-owned or you find that, like many, the dealer suuucksss and you'd rather just pay someone else to repair your vehicle when issues come about, then knowing there are at least reputable repair shops convenient to you that are comfortable with hybrids would be worth the google search.
    2. Toyota hybrids have an obnoxious hovercraft-like whirring sort of sound. It kind of bothers me. Some people don't notice it at all and I think it's generally worse on the Highlander lineup for some reason.

The gas engine RAV4 is tried and true and there's not a lot I can add that you don't already know, I'm guessing. They kick ass and I can't recommend them enough to someone who wants a car for everyday every use sort of driving.

If I were buying one or the other today, and both have the same trim options + packages, I would buy the Hybrid for the little bit of extra money. It feels a bit more future proof with fuel/energy movements and laws passing all of the time to limit or reduce gasoline engines. I also just think, super plainly, that if it's an option and it's in any way better for the environment (not going to get into the whole battery recycling/manufacturing debate over hybrids) then I'm likely to go that route.
That being said, if there is a base model hybrid for the same price as a fully-loaded gasoline model.... I'd probably cave and get the features.

My mother has had the gas model for a few years and my dad recently bought the hybrid (the more expensive Prime model I guess) and they both seem pretty happy. but thats about as much info as I have to offer unfortunately.

Thanks for the post before this one! I have not yet. My brother-in-law got his friend who works in the sales rep at the dealership I'd be going to so I was trying to get an idea of what models I'd be interested in. I'm still looking at the trim packages lol

we only test drove the Trax and the Trailblazer before deciding on the Trax. I suggested the GMC Terrain and one of the smaller Kia models, maybe the Seltos?

she had her heart set on the Trax immediately, but couldn't get the color she wanted
