reminder that Goff has more touchdowns than Pickens this season

 

He was a great player for the two years he was in Philly for. Never thought he was elite. Had excellent speed and bend to rush the passer, though did benefit from some easier matchups last year against RTs vs the LTs Josh Sweat went up against, but I don’t think you generate the sacks across four straight years the way he did if you’re not a great player. Solid against the run. Not particularly his calling card, but certainly not bad either.

Can’t speak too much on his character, obviously. He was never identified as a clear locker room problem. He did a minor “hold in” during training camp last year because he wanted his contract redone after one year of signing it. There’s some belief that he became more of a “me guy” where he would go off script and play more for sacks for a new contract than within the scheme as last season went along, but nothing was ever confirmed or went beyond rumors.

The way this year has gone for him is pretty wild. I mean, the Eagles were never going to pay him what he’s looking for, nor were the Jets. With the recent report of the inclusion of “The Eagles get a second round pick if the Jets trade him to the NFC” seems to indicate that both the Eagles and the Jets knew very well that this was a legit issue. Seems like the Eagles had a much better idea that Reddick was never going to play on his contract than the Jets did. Then, of course, the whole “hiring goons to intimidate a business partner he stiffed over less than $2m” is pretty ridiculous and shitty.

Great player, but seems like a major headache. Glad the Eagles got rid of him. I can see there being a happy ending with some team. Maybe that’s with the Lions. I just know by now that it was never going to happen with the Eagles.
