My back was bad about an hour ago but I took a muscle relaxer and used heat and I am a-OK for the time being

 

Hot take: the metrics for “good driver” vary by region

for example, in Oregon a “good driver” always obeys the speed limit and is extremely courteous to a fault. Northeast drivers would consider these Oregon drivers very bad though because they hog up the passing lane without passing and are more hesitant and less decisive about making maneuvers when there’s limited space.

Meanwhile, Oregon drivers would consider us awful drivers because we collectively speed & disobey minor laws (literally 70-80% of the drivers), because we don’t ask for permission to get into a lane, and because a “normal following distance” to us is tailgating to them (especially when they go exactly 54 mph in a 55 in the left lane)

Like you straight up can’t take aggressive driving personally where I am lol. You’ll just piss yourself off. There will always be someone who wants to go faster than you in the left lane and there will always be people who will cut you off without hesitation if they know they can fit. I’ve learned patience driving my partner’s van which is nowhere near as nimble and doesn’t go 75 mph as easily as other cars I’ve driven - I just have to accept that people will want to speed around me the entire time.

You might as well just go however fast you’re comfortable going, get into lanes whenever you can get in (turning your blinker on early and waiting makes it way harder cause people will just speed up and try to pass you first - it’s better to use the blinker as a warning after you’ve already decided you have space to change lanes, not as a request) and move out of the left lane the second someone starts creeping faster behind you.

One thing I will say is at least aggressive northeast drivers know how to drive and know exactly when and where they can fit most of the time. They might not be polite about getting where they need to go, but you usually can’t even be mad either cause it’s not like they didn’t have space.

Now, Florida drivers? Almost as aggressive as northeast drivers, but WAY WORSE AT DRIVING. Those motherfuckers will literally crash into you for no reason cause they didn’t shoulder check before aggressively changing lanes, or because they didn’t signal before suddenly stopping and turning right, or because they failed to estimate the speed of opposing traffic when making a left. That shit is worse to me than drivers who know what they’re doing and simply go around you if you don’t lol

 

In football news I am still very blown away by that Lamar Jackson play. He’s fuckin terrifying when he’s really on his game.

It’s gotta be the first time I’ve seen a QB fumble the snap horribly, stiff arm a good defensive end to the ground, and throw the ball moving backward across his body and across the coverage and score a TD in a tiny jump-ball window all in the same play.

There’s just no defending that. Cincy did everything right. That’s like 4 things QBs should try to avoid at all costs because it can easily become a bad sack or a turnover and he just so naturally stays upright and throws the most perfect pass for the TD
