wasn’t that hard of a sell to 12 black businesswomen tbh especially since only one of them was covering the bill

but that said put another server in that situation and they wouldn’t have said the right things to get 4 bottles sold

 

It’s also about demeanor. Believe it or not, at my level of service a table will buy a lot more from you if they like you and trust your knowledge and taste

 

well sure but i’d imagine those people go into the dinner expecting to buy a nice bottle of something haha. doing it on a whim bc a waiter asks you seems baffling to me.
