To me, this is a pretty big game for Lawrence and the Jags

This would be a nice win if he can be a big part of why and possibly catapult your season

If he's average and loses to go 0-3 it's gonna be interesting to follow how that team responds

 

My wife had to review fanfiction for Doki Doki Literature Club for work today

 

I do wonder what happens to Lawrence if he lands with a better organization. But also, the coach and only take so much blame. We all agree Taylor sucks and Burrow went to a super bowl. At some point, even if he only gets 7 passes in a half, he has to start hitting on them way more often than he is.

 

I think a lot of this goes back to Urban Meyer being one of the worst coaching hires in NFL history

It was extremely bad at the time, it was even worse in hindsight. That first year can be so important and set the team back quite a bit

 

Eh, he’s still getting ranked top 10. Which I agreed with until this season started with a continuation of last season’s woes. It’s on him at this point to show it. Even if the playcalling and blocking is bad, a good QB would improvise better when it counts and not get repeatedly owned by a third down blitz when we finally stop throwing screens

I also maintain that Doug Pederson turning around the Eagles post-Chip is why the Jags hired him: because Urban Meyer was so disastrous they needed someone experienced with a culture reset. And I do think Doug did that.

I think it's probably time for him to go, and if they didn't need that culture reset in the first place...who knows who they could've hired. The team could look very very different if they didn't make that massive mistake hiring Urban Meyer

Yeah people do bring this up a lot and it doesn’t excuse all of Trevor’s struggles but it certainly offers a good explanation and isn’t insignificant when we examine how he’s halfway developed but is still leaving a lot of potential on the table

I will always loathe the Urban Meyer hire. So fucking stupid and quite possibly may have ruined a generational QB prospect.

Also agree on Doug, that second season was so crucial but he's coached scared every year since. Unless he turns it around, he needs to go. Probably should've gone last year anyway finishing 1-5 but I also understand the argument that Lawrence was hurt.

Yeah at a certain point you're an adult and should just work to play better idk

He’s also coaching lazy. Like, take the playcalling back dammit. Imagine if Andy Reid let Eric Bienemy call the plays in those superbowl years and refused to acknowledge he’s way smarter at controlling the flow of the game and catching teams by surprise

This kind of isn’t fair either. The way we reduced my argument to “3500 yards” was not a response to my entire point. I felt we both backed our points up with fact and never got the discussion past the point of ultimately being subjective

it is in no way subjective. that is the issue. some things are just factual.

 

Whether a QB is overrated or not is anything but a factual discussion

 

My argument actually was misrepresented in several ways too. I’m not the only one who gets into the “spirit of debate” and misses key factors / context in the process. People doing that is why everyone got so mad because it was assumed my point was way simpler and dumber than it was. When I elaborated, I used facts and stats in return but which of those stats we weigh heavier is ultimately subjective. It’s not objective just because numbers are involved, often how you plug in or interpret the numbers can legitimately vary a lot by the context
